On June 18, 2013, the City adopted Resolution No. 13-4926 that included revised salary ranges implementing the 2% COLA for FY 2013-14. ANALYSIS: Effective July 1, 2014, the State of California's minimum wage law is increasing from $8.00 per hour to $9.00 per hour. Two of the part-time positions classifications (i.e., Recreation Leader I and Recreation Aide) included steps in the salary ranges for FY 2013-14 that are below $9.00 per hour (Attachment "B"). In order to be in compliance with State law, it is recommended these steps in the salary ranges be adjusted as outlined in Exhibit "1" of the Resolution No. 14-5005. In order to remain consistent with all other salary steps in all ranges, a 4% difference between steps is also recommended for Recreation Leader 1, and is reflected accordingly in Exhibit 1. CONCLUSION: In order to process the payroll with the beginning date of June 27, 2014, and a pay date of July 17, 2014, in accordance with State Law, the salary schedules reflecting the minimum wage effective July 1, 2014, is requested to be approved by City Council. FISCAL IMPACT: The adopted FY 2014-15 City Budget include:'l. sufficient resources for this adjustment as a result of the minimum wage. Part-Time Salary Ranges-FY 2013-14 Attachment A RESOLUTION NO. 14-5005 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA ADOPTING SALARY RANGES FOR PART-TIME CLASSIFICATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR (FY) 2014-15, IMPLEMENTING MINIMUM WAGE WHEREAS, the State of California has implement a minimum wage of $9.00 effective July 1, 2014. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby approves salary ranges for part-time classifications (Exhibit "1") implementing minimum wage with the pay period beginning June 27, 2014. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED on this 17th day of June, 2014.
