RESOLUTION NO. 22- 9985
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-
LOCKA, FLORIDA, REQUIRING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO SUBMIT
THE REQUIRED ITEMS AS DELINEATED IN THE BODY OF THE
LEGISLATION; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, as required in the City Attorney contract and as needed for budgetary
matters, all invoices for outside litigation expenses directed to the Law Offices of
Burnadette Norris -Weeks, PA for the previous sixteen (15) months from February 2021
to April 2022 to be submitted to the City Manager on or before May 31, 2022; and
WHEREAS, a list of legal matters (i.e. any litigation, claims, cases, assessments, and
related subsequent events), supporting documentation, and a reasonable evaluation of the
potential financial impact of these cases that existed at 9/30/2020 to be submitted May 27,
2022; and
WHEREAS, a list of legal matters (i.e. any litigation, claims, cases, assessments, and
related subsequent events), supporting documentation, and a reasonable evaluation of
the potential financial impact of these cases that existed at 9/30/2021 to be submitted
May 27, 2022.
WHEREAS, as required in the City Attorney contract and needed to complete the FY 2022
budget, a budget for all cases currently in active litigation and an assessment of the
anticipated full year litigation expense for 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, to be submitted on or
before May 31, 2022.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida hereby requires
the City Attorney to provide the necessary documents as requested by the specified dates.
SECTION 3. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and
corrections of typographical errors which do not affect the intent may be authorized by
the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, without need of public hearing, by
filing a corrected copy of the same with the City Clerk.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect upon adoption and is subject to the
approval of the Governor or Governor's Designee.

Short Title:
A resolution requiring the City Attorney to submit the required items as delineated in the body of the
legislation by the specified dates.
Staff Summary:
The completion of the audits are very essential to the City of Opa-locka being in compliance with the State of
Local Agreement of Cooperation.
It is imperative that staff receive the necessary information from the City Attorney's Office in order to move
forward with its audit process and to properly budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Proposed Action:
Staff recommends the City Commission authorize the resolution.
