SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF
JUNE 18, 2014
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
actions from their meeting of June 18, 2014.
BACKGROUND:
On June 18, 2014, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly
scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the June 18, 2014 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:
1 . ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner-Fish, Lopez, Rosso, Chairman Georgine
Absent: Commissioner -None
Excused: Commissioner-Vice-Chairman Haddad
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes from their Regular
Meeting of May 21 , 2014 and received and filed the monthly reports for May 2014.
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. REVIEW OF REVISIONS TO TITLE 3 (PUBLIC SAFETY), CHAPTER 5
City Council
July 1, 2014

(PARKS AND CIVIC CENTER), ARTICLE D (PARK ACTIVITIES) OF THE
TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL CODE (TCMC) RELATIVE TO DOGS IN CITY
PARKS
The Parks and Recreation Commission continued their discussion on a
proposed amendment to the TCMC which would allow leashed dogs in
certain areas of the City's parks. The Commission took no action, requesting
additional information from staff.
4. NEW BUSINESS
A. REQUEST FROM MEDTOR, INC. FOR RESERVED USE OF CERTAIN
GRASS AREAS AT TEMPLE CITY PARK FOR A PARK DAY FOR
PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES ON JULY 19, 2014
The Commission approved the request subject to payment of all fees and
deposits and approval of the required insurance endorsement.
B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY YOUTH FOOTBALL (TCYF) FOR
AUTHORIZATION TO HANG A BANNER AT LIVE OAK PARK TO
PUBLICIZE THEIR 2014 REGISTRATION
The Commission approved the request for a period not to exceed three
weeks.
C. REVIEW OF URBAN FORESTRY INFORMATIONAL BROCHURE
The Commission reviewed an informational brochure designed by staff to
provide the public with an overview of the City's urban forest. The
Commission provided input into its content and design.
5. MA TIERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS
A. The Commission received and filed the Parks and Recreation Director's
Report for June 2014.
CONCLUSION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file this report.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15 City Budget.
