HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-10-1987 5 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA.DECEMBER 10.1987 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session December 10; 2 1987 at the hour of 9:00 A.M. in the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Brown presided with Mr. Willis in 3 attendance. Absent: Ms.Silberstein. The following business was had to-wit: 4 5 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 3.1987 6 7 Mr.Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared,seconded by Mr.Brown and ,8 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 9 10 APPROVAL OF CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 11 12 Mr. Willis moved to approve claims for payment in the amount of 501,955.16, seconded by Mr. Brown and on 13 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 14 15 PUBLIC REQUESTS AND COMMENTS 16 17 Purina Parking Lot Lease 18 19 Mr. Barden presented a lease between the City of Richmond and Ralston Purina Company for use of property 20 owned by the City and located at the junction of Third and Forth Streets under a bridge. The property is leased 21 by Ralston Purina Company for parking for employees. 22 23 Mr. Barden explained the renewal option would be exercised for another three year period and the current lease 24 expires on January 3, 1988. Mr. Barden said the original Lease was at Ralston Purina for approval and 25 execution and the Board should approve the Lease and authorize the execution upon receipt from Ralston 26 Purina. Mr. Barden requested the Lease be dated January 3, 1988. • 27 28 Mr.Willis moved to approve and Ground Lease between the City of Richmond and Ralston Purina Company and 29 to execute such lease upon receipt from Ralston Purina with an effective date of January 3, 1988,seconded by 30 Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 31 32 Street Light Requests 33 34 Sheridan Street Extension 35 36 Mr. Willis asked the Board to start proper proceedings for the installation of street lights on the 2300 foot 37 extension of Sheridan Street westward from N. W. 11th Street. He also requested that Fire Chief Trotter 38 investigate the need for a fire hydrant in the area. 39 40 Mr.Willis moved to refer the request for street lights on the Sheridan Street extension to the Richmond Power& 41 Light Street Light Committee,seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 42 43 North F Street 44 45 The request from Mayor Waltermann for sodium lights on North F Street from 10th to 19th Streets with additional 46 lights to be placed on the South side of F Street where warranted. The request has already been approved by 47 Councilmember Williams,Chairman of the Street Light Committee. 48 49 Mr. Willis moved to refer the request for sodium light and additional lights on North F Street to the Design and 50 Engineering Division of Richmond Power & Light, seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the 51 motion was carried. 52 53 DEPARTMENT REQUESTS AND COMMENTS 54 55 Fire Department 56 57 November Monthly Report 58 59 The November Monthly Report of the Richmond Fire Department showed a total of 117 runs at a total loss of 60 126,000. 61 62 Chief Trotter commented the largest loss was in the commercial area with the fire at Sonny's Westside Standard 63 Station. 64 65 Mr.Willis moved to accept and file the November Monthly Report of the Richmond Fire Department,seconded by Board of Works Minutes Cont'd December 10, 1987 Page 2 1 Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 2 3 BOARD OF WORKS MISCELLANEOUS 4 5 Acknowledgment of Election to Police Merit Commission Nomination&Selection Committee 6 7 Mr. Brown acknowleged the results of the election to the Police Merit Commission Nomination and Selection 8 Committee and announced the Committee membership now consists of: 9 10 Virgil Shaw-Chairman 11 Ronnie Crane-Secretary 12 Emma Smith 13 Melody Truitt 14 Tom Legear 15 16 ADJOURNMENT 17 18 There being no further business,on a motion duly made,seconded and passed the meeting was adjourned. 19 20 21 22 John Brown, Vice President 23 24 25 26 ATTEST: 27 Mary Merchanthouse,City Clerk 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 • 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 62 63 64 65
