HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-23-1986 53 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 23, 1986 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session 2 December 23, 1986 at the hour of 9:00 A.M. in the Municipal Building in said City. Ms. Silberstein 3 presided with Mr. Brown and Mr. Willis in attendance. The following business was had to-wit: 4 5 BID OPENING FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALIZATION - U.S. 40 AND INDUSTRIAL PARKWAY 6 7 Ms. Silberstein requested all bids be turned in for the installation of the traffic signal at U.S. 40 and 8 Eastern Indiana Industrial Parkway. 9 10 Having received all bids, Mr. Brown moved to close the bidding, seconded by Mr. Willis and on 11 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 12 13 Ms. Silberstein examined the Proof of Publication and found it to be in order. Mr. Brown moved to 14 receive and file the Proof of Publication, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion 15 was carried. 16 17 The following bids were received: 18 19 1. Trans Tech Electric, Inc. The bid was on the proper form, signed and notarized and included 20 a bid bond in the specified amount. The total bid price was 28,000.00. 21 22 2. H.E. Henderson, Inc. The bid was on the proper form, signed and notarized and included a 23 bond in the specified amount. The total bid price was 24,562.00. 24 25 3. Delp Electric, Inc. The bid was on the proper form, signed and notarized and included a bond 26 in the specified amount. The total bid price was 24,720.00. 27 28 4. James H. Drew, Inc. The bid was on the proper form, signed and notarized and included a 29 bond in the specified amount. The total bid price was 46,488.00. 30 31 Ms. Silberstein stated that the bids would be available for inspection in the Office of the City Clerk 32 immediately following the meeting. 33 34 Mr. Brown moved to refer the bids for the installation of the traffic signal to the Public Works 35 Department for evaluation and recommendation, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the 36 motion was carried. 37 38 Mr. Willis announced that he hoped to award the bid on December 31, 1986. 39 40 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 18, 1986 41 42 Mr. Brown moved to aprove the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, seconded by Mr. Willis 43 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 44 45 APPROVAL OF CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 46 47 Mr. Brown moved to approve claims in the amount of 44,444.14 for payment, seconded by Mr. Willis 48 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 49 50 DEPARTMENT REQUESTS AND COMMENTS 51 52 PUBLIC WORKS 53 54 Mr. Willis reminded the public that there will be no trash collection on Wednesday of this week, but 55 that Thursday and Friday pick-ups will be made on Friday and Saturday. 56 57 PLANNING DEPARTMENT 58 59 Weights and Measures Monthly Report 60 61 The November-December Monthly Report for Weights and Measures showed a total of 585 inspections 62 being made. 63 64 Mr. Brown moved to accept and file the Weights and Measures Monthly Report, seconded by Mr. Willis 65 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 5'4 Board of Works Minutes Cont'd December 23, 1986 Page 2 Set Date for Unsafe Building Hearing - 815 South E Street I, 2 Mr. Brown moved to set January 15, 1987 at 9:00 A.M. as the date and time for an Unsafe Building 3 Hearing on property located at 815 South E Street, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote 4 the motion was carried. 5 6 MAYOR'S OFFICE 7 8 Set 1987 Holidays for City Employees not Covered by Bargaining Unit 9 10 Mayor Frank H. Waltermann presented the following list of Holidays for 1987 for approval by the 11 Board. 12 13 January I, 1987 New Years Day 14 January 19, 1987 Martin Luther Kings Birthday 15 February 16, 1987 President's Day 16 May 25, 1987 Memorial Day 17 July 3, 1987 Independence Day 18 September 7, 1987 Labor Day 19 November 26 and 27, 1987 Thanksgiving 20 December 24 and 25, 1987 Christmas 21 22 Ms. Silberstein stated that there are a total of ten (10) Holidays and they have been researched to 23 coincide with schools and businesses. 24 25 Mr. Brown moved to approve the Holidays for 1987 for City Employees not covered by a bargaining 26 unit as proposed, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 27 28 ADJOURNMENT 29 30 There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed the meeting was 31 adjourned. 32 33 34 Susan Silberstein, President 35 36 37 ATTEST: 38 Mary Merchanthouse, City Clerk 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 62 63 64 65
