HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-29-1986 g4 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 29, 1986 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular 2 session January 29, 1986 at the hour of 9:00 A.M. in the Municipal Building in said 3 City. Ms. Maness presided with Mr. Brown and Ms. Silberstein in attendance. The III4 following business was had to wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 23, 1986 7 8 Ms. Silberstein moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. - 10 11 APPROVAL OF CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 12 13 Mr. Brown moved to approve claims for payment in the amount of 357,217.17, seconded 14 by Ms. Silberstein and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 15 .16 DEPARTMENT REQUESTS AND :COMMENTS 17 18 Purchasing Depai L.ntent . 19 20 Award Bid to H&H Wrecking for Abandoned Vehicle Storage 21 22 Rita Stout, Purchasing Director, informed the Board that her office, the City Attorney 23 and Police Depai Lmnent were recce ien.ding that the bid for the abandoned vehicle storage 24 be awarded to H&H Wrecking Service at a total amount of 4,535.00 for a three (3) 25 year period. 26 27 Ms. Stout said that the contract to be signed had been changed fran the contract -- 28 the Board had received to reflect the total three (3) year period and also to allow 29 forty-five (45) days for the performance bond to be filed. 30 . 31 Ms. Stout also informed the Board that Chief Nimitz requested a specific time be 32 put on the contract for starting and that it start at 12:01 A.M. on February 1, 33 1986. 34 35 Ms. Maness stated that she felt this was a better contract since it set forth 36 specifics for the types of vehicles involved. 37 38 Ms. Silberstein moved to award the bid for abandoned vehicle storage to H&H Wrecking 39 Service and approve and execute the contract between the City of Richmond and H&H 40 Wrecking Service effective at 12:01 A.M. February 1, 1986 per the terms of the 41 contract, seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion 42 ' was carried. 43 44 Ms. Stout informed the Board that she had contacted the Indiana Towing and Wrecking 45 Services and was receiving information back to use for quoting towing services for 46 city vehicles. 47 48 Ms. Maness requested drafts of the specifications for towing and details on the 49 towing rotation system be submitted to the Board for their information. 50 51 Chief Nimitz said that several wrecking services have complained about not receiving 52 their share of towing services on the rotation. He stated that was due to certain III53 wrecking companies not responding in certain weather and in that case the officers 54 go to the next service listed on the rotation. 55 56 New Telephone System for City 57 . 58 Ms. Stout announced that the City telephone system would be changing effective 59 January 31, 1986 at 3:00 P.M. from the 966-5561 number to 983-7200.
