HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-26-2018 Workshop Workshop Meeting March 26, 2018 5:30 p.m. Council Chambers The Workshop Meeting of the Crestview City Council was called to order at 5:30 P.M. Members present were: President J.B. Whitten, Vice President Bill Cox, Joe Blocker and Doug Faircloth. Also present were the honorable Mayor David Cadle, City Clerk Elizabeth Roy, City Attorney Bill Holley department heads and members of the press. Mr. Hayes was absent from this workshop. WORKSHOP Called to Order This workshop was called to order by Mr. Whitten. Pledge of Allegiance The pledge was led the honorable Mayor Cadle. Open Workshop The Workshop was open by Mr. Whitten. Approval of Agenda Mr. Whitten asked if there were any changes to the Agenda. There were none and Council gave consensus to present Workshop Agenda. Public Opportunity on Council Agenda items Workshop Items Review of the Property Maintenance Code Ms. Gaillard, Growth Management Director, reviewed the changes that were made to the Property Maintenance Code for the City in chapters 1-8. Discussion ensued on the information that she reviewed. Ms. Gaillard commented that her department would submitting this as an ordinance soon if there were not any further changes that needed to be made. Discussion ensued. Ms. Gaillard asked if Council would submit their inputs no later than April 9th it would take her a week to pull it together. Discussion of Addressing Issues Ms. Gaillard, Growth Management Director stated that she would like to discuss the physical address, the structures and its relationship with the 2020 census. There are several issues that are still outstanding from the addressing update that started in 2014. Among the addressing points and data there was a mandate for there to be retroreflectors reflectivity on the sings. She checked with Mr. Steele and Public Services is one-hundred percent complete with the stop signs and ninety-five percent complete the information/speed limit signs and about fifty percent complete on the street signs. She noted that it may be three to five years until this project is complete. Ms. Gaillard spoke about the importance of address numbers being visible on structures. Discussion ensued. Update on current activities and schedule. Ms. Gaillard announced that a CO has been issued for Pet Sense and they are looking for a Grand Opening in mid-April and Popeyes will have construction underway, Chic-Fil-A and the Fairfield Inn has construction underway. The Eden’s Assisted Living Facility is underway. She discussed other projects that are underway in the City limits. Mr. Whitten gave an update on the Transportation Workshop with Senator Gainer with a date for the 3rd of May. Comments from the Audience Mr. Cal Zethmayr, WAAZ, stated that to promote the sign change the City needs to sell it. Mr. Steele, Public Services Director, gave an update on the dog park, the environmental center, and the new splash pads at Northview and Allen Park, the exercise equipment installed at the walking park. Mayor Cadle informed Council that the Amtrak funding has been restored but it will still take awhile before we see anything here in the City. Mr. Cox welcomed Mr. Banta to the City of Crestview.
