This was accomplished by request ( of the Post Office and the 19 enforcement only includes the two (2) designated handicapped parking spaces. 20 21 Mail Collection Boxes in the 300 Block of North A Street 22 23 Captain John Farmer presented a proposal from the Post Office to eliminate on street 24 parking on the south side of the 300 block of North A Street and that the Post Office 25 be authorized to install mail collection boxes at that location. 26 27 Captain Farmer stated he feels this would reduce the congestion in the area of the 28 main entrance to the Post Office which is a high accident area. He said that it 29 would only involve two (2) or three (3) parking spaces and would allow for a 30 pull off area for vehicles to have access to the collection boxes. He stated 31 it would not affect employees of the businesses in the area since there is plenty 32 of parking available. 33 34 Ms. Silberstein moved to approve the elimination of on street parking in the 300 35 block of North A Street and to authorize the Post Office to install mail collection 36 boxes in this area, seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion 37 was carried. 38 39 PUBLIC REQUESTS AND COMMENTS 40 41 Denial of Residential Handicapped Parking Designation at 310 North 17th Street 42 43 The request of Anneliese Pegg of 310 North 17th Street for a residential handicapped 44 parking designation was presented to the Board. Captain John Farmer 45 recommended denial of this request since there is off street parking available 46 and it will not fall under the policy established by the Board of Works. 47 • 48 Ms. Silberstein moved to deny the request of Annelises Pegg for a residential 49 handicapped parking designation at 310 North 17th Street, seconded by Mr. Brown 50 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 51 52 Wayne County Tourism Bureau - Bowling Ball Roll 53 54 A request was presented to the Board of Works from the Wayne County Tourisn Bureau111 55 to proceed with a promotional event for the State Men's Bowling Tournament to be 56 held in Richmond and to also raise funds for the Special Olympics. The event will 57 be the rolling of a bowling ball from Indianapolis to Richmond on November 9, 1985. 58 59 Ms. Silberstein moved to grant permission to the Wayne County Tourism Bureau to 60 proceed with a bowling ball roll on November 9, 1985 and November 10, 1985 subject 61 to approval by the State of Indiana for use of State right-of-way, seconded by Mr. 62 Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 63 64 MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS 65 Liq Board of Works Minutes Cont'd November 7, 1985 Page 3 1 Mr. Dennis Bronston informed the Board that he and David Holthaus of the Palladium 2 Item had toured the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of North 17th Street to observe the 3 area regarding improvements made by the City through requests of the residents of III4 the area. Mr. Bronston reported that they observed many improvements, but that 5 more could be done and hopefully other improvements will be accomplished in the near 6 future. 7 8 Change Date For Board of Works Meeting 9 10 Ms. Silberstein moved to set a meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety for 11 9:00 A.M. on November 27, 1985 in lieu of November 28, 1985 due to the Thanksgiving 12 Holiday, seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 13 14 Ms. Maness announced the Municipal Building would be closed on November 11, 1985. 15 in celebration of the Veterans Day holiday. 16 17 Ms. Maness read a card to the Board from the General Telephone employees thanking 18 them for their assistance in their recent fund raising event to benefit General 19 Telephone employees. 20 21 ADJOURNMENT 22 23 There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed the 24 meeting was adjourned. 25 26 27 28 Cathy A.
