BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 3, 1985
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met
2 in regular session January 3, 1985 at the hour of 9:00 A.M. in the Municipal
3 Building in said City. Ms. Maness opened the meeting with. Mr. Brown and
4 Ms. Silberstein in attendance. The following business was had to-wit:

6 ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 1985

8 Ms. Silberstein moved to nominate Cathy A. Maness for President of the Board
9 of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana and John Brown
10 for Vice President of the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
11 Richmond, Indiana for 1985, seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice ,
12 vote the motion was carried.

14 APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER TO PLAN COMMISSION

16 Ms. Silberstein moved to appoint Cathy Maness as the representative from
17 the Board of Public Works and Safety to the City of Richmond Plan Commission,
18 seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

20 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 27, 1984

22 Ms. Silberstein moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared,
23 seconded by Mr. Brown and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

25 APPROVAL OF CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT

27 Mr. Brown moved to approve claims in the amount of 527,849.93 for payment,
28 seconded by Ms. Silberstein and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

30 DEPARTMENT REQUESTS AND COMMENTS

34 Approval of Monthly Reports for November and December, 1984

36 Mr. Bronston presented the monthly reports from the Building Division for
37 November and December of 1984. The reports showed a total number of permits
38 issued in November was 108 and 94 in December.

40 Mr. Brown moved to accept and file the November. and December, 1984 monthly
41 reports for the Building Division of the Planning Department, seconded by
42 Ms. Silberstein and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

44 Mr. Bronston reported on the property at 315 South 9th belonging to David
45 Dilley. A contractor has been contacted for demolition of the property,
46 but no permits have been issued for the demolition as of yet.

48 Mr. Bronston also reminded all Electrical and Heating Contractors that they
49 should renew their licenses for 1985. The fee for the license is 10.00 and
50 a Performance Bond must also be filed with the Planning Department.

54 Approval to Extend Compliance Officer's Contract for One Month

56 Mayor Waltermann told the Board that he was requesting the contract with
57 Sue Roberson for the position of Compliance Officer extended through January
58 31, 1985 in order to complete the Personnel Classification System. This
59 includes job descriptions for every full time position in the City of Richmond
60 and provides standardization throughout the City. The contract will be
61 extended at the same rate of pay as was previously approved.

63 Ms. Silberstein moved to. approve the extension of the contract with the Compliance
64 Officer for one (1) month at the current rate of pay, seconded by Mr. Brown
65 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

3 Reminder of Executive Session of Board of Works

5 Mr. Barden reminded the Board that they had scheduled an Executive Session
6 for January 10, 1985 at 8:30 A.M. in his office.

8 Common Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
9
10 Ms. Maness reminded the Board that there is a Committee of the Whole scheduled
11 for January 3, 1985 at 7:00 P.M. in the Board of Works Room. The meeting
12 is a work session on Cable TV Legislation.

16 There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed
