1 The Board .of Public Works and Safety of the City of. Richmond, Indiana ,
2 met in regular session December 29, 1983 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the
3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Cordell
4 present. Absent: Mr. Webb. The following business was had, to-wit :

6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 22, 1983

8 Mr. Cordell moved to approve the minutes of December 22, 1983 as prepared ,
9 seconded -by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

11 POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Chris
12 Advance Probationary Officers to- Regular •

14 Police Chief Charles Chris read the following letter:

16' Dear Board Members :

18 I recommend that Officers Virgil Shaw and Mark Connery be
19 advanced from the rank of Probationary Patrolmen to that
20 of Patrolmen on the Richmond Police Department.

22 These officers have successfully completed their probationary •
23 period as required.

25 Request that this be effective January 3, 1984.

33 from the rank of Probationary Patrolmen to. that of Patrolman , seconded by
34 . Mr. Cordell. and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

43 .ationary Patrolman Peggy Jinks , effective December 28, 1983.
44 Officer Jinks ' resignation is for personal reasons .

46 I recommend acceptance of Officer Jinks ' resignation from
47 • the Richmond Police Department.

54 Mr. Meredith moved for acceptance of the resignation , seconded by Mr.
• 55 Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

III 57 REMARKS BY BOARD MEMBERS •

59 City Attorney Ed Anderson made a brief quote from Shakespeare.
60 City Controller Don Meredith said it had been .a pleasure serving the Board
61 of Works and being President the past seven (7) years . He wished to thank
62 . the citizens for the opportunity of serving. Board Member Edward Cordell
63 remarked he .had enjoyed working with the City and feels the City has done
64 a good job of going forward. He wished Mr. Waltermann and his people well .
