HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-22-1983 _37 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 22, 1983 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met 2 in regular session December 22, 1983 at the hour of 9 :00 a.m. in the Municipal .3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Webb present. Absent: 4 Mr. Cordell . The following business was had, to--wit : 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 15 , 1983 7 8 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 REQUEST FOR PROMOTION FOR JAYCEE CANOE FUN - Tom Cornett 12 13 Mr. Tom Cornett, 238 North 22nd, representing the Jaycees , requested permission 14 to carry a canoe from 5th & Promenade to Richmond Square Mall to promote Rob . 15 Plankenhorn in the Olympics . The request is for January 14 at 3:00 p.m. either 16 on the sidewalk or on the street. Traffic Capt. Dan Wogoman stated they should 17 stay on the sidewalk on the south side of Main Street. Mr. Plankenhorn is a 18 Wayne County resident who will be racing a kayak in -the upcoming Olympics . 19 There will be four (4) Jaycees carrying the canoe with two (2) relief members 20 walking. In response to Mr. Meredith's question asking whether this was a fund 21 raiser or. moral support, Mr. Cornett stated they will be selling dinner tickets 22 for an event. 23 . 24 Mr. Webb moved-that the request for the promotion .of the Jaycees canoe run be 25 approved subject to working out details with the traffic division of the police 26 department, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 27 carried. It was noted insurance is not required; however, the Jaycees are 28 covered under a blanket policy for such events . 29 30 SATISFACTION OF MORTGAGE FOR 21 NORTH 20TH & 1018c..NORTH "G" --- Ron Cheek 31 (1/ 32 Mr. Ron Cheek-, representing the Department of Community Development, requested 33 execution of satisfaction of mortgage for the above properties . The mortgage 34 is under the replacement housing program and they have met all the requirements . 35 City Attorney Ed Anderson finds it in order. 36 37 Mr. Webb moved for release of the mortgage for 21 North 20th & 1018 North "G" . 38 as requested, seconded by Mr. Meredith :,and on unanimous voice vote thb motion 39 was carried. 40 41 CORRECTION OF BID AWARDS FOR GASOLINE AND DIESEL FUEL - Steve Esarey 42 - 43 Acting City Engineer Steve Esarey made the following corrections in the bid 44 awards for diesel fuel and heating oil at the December 15 meeting: 45 46 Premium Grade diesel fuel #1 in tankwagon loads was awarded to Farm 47 Bureau @ 1.025 per gallon in error. It should have been awarded to 48 Warfield @ 1 .008. 49 50 51 Regular Grade; Diesel Fuel #2 in tankwagon loads was omitted. It 52 should have been awarded to Marshall Herdrich @ 0.876. 53 • 54 Heating oil #2 in tankwagon loads was awarded to Farm Bureau @ 0.884. 55 It should have been awarded to Marshall Herdrich @ 0.876. 56 -57 Mr. Meredith moved that the motion made last week be rescinded in part; that 58 part being- the award to Farm Bureau for #1 premium grade diesel fuel and #2 59 heating oil by tankwagon and that we award #1 premium grade tankwagon to Warfield 60 at 1.008 per gallon and #2 heating oil by tankwagon to Marshall Herdrich at 0.876'_ 61 and that further we award #2 regular grade diesel fuel by tankwagon to Marshall 62 Herdrich at 0.87'6 per gallon, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote 63 the motion was carried. - - 3S Board of Works Minutes Cont'd. December 22, 1983 Page 2 1 AGREEMENT WITH SIECO FOR RIGHT-OF- WAY ACQUISITION FOR INDUSTRIES ROAD - 2 Steve Esarey 3 4 Acting City Engineer Steve Esarey reported the design of Industries Road 5 from Union Pike td Chester Boulevard has advanced to the state where we 6 can begin right-of-way actions . This agreement is a draft and does not require 7 signatures today. It will be sent to the State. City Attorney Ed Anderson 8 has reviewed it as far as legality and form and finds it in order. Approval 9 this' morning will be subject to State approval and available funding. The 10 funding will be 75.% federal and 25% local . 11 12 Mr. Webb moved that the agreement between SIECO and the City of Richmond 13 be approved subject to approval of the State Highway Department and avail- 14 ability of funding, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote 15 the motion was carried. 16 17 ADJOURNMENT 18 19 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 20 21 Donald E.
