S BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 1, 1983 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met 2 in regular session December 1 1983 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Webb presided with Mr. Cordell present. Mr. 4 Meredith was out of town. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 23 1983 111 8 Mr. Cordell moved to approve the minutes of November 23, 1983 as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 U_/A STREET LIGHT REQUEST FOR S. W. 20TH AND MEADOW PARK 12 . 13 Acting City Engineer Steve Esarey presented maps, petitions and letters from 14 Richard Barker of the RP&L for street lights in the S. W. 21st, S. W. 20th, 15 S. W. "F" and Meadow Park areas. They are proposing to install seven (7) 16 sodium lights into mercury lights in the S. W. "F" area and will be removing 17 one (1) mercury light. In the Meadow Park area, they are proposing to install 18 eighteen (18) sodium and remove ten (10) mercury. This does have the approval 19 of the Street Light Committee and RP&L is asking Board approval. 20 21 Mr. Cordell moved to approve the Street Light Committee request for S. W. 20th, 22 S. W. 21st, S. W. "F" and Meadow Park, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous 23 voice vote the motion was carried. 24 25 POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Chris 26 Hiring of Special Officer 27 28 Chief of Police Charles Chris read the following letter to the Board: 29 30 Request that Michael Davis, Age: 39, 1125 Boyer Street, Richmond, 31 Indiana, be appointed as Special Police Officer for Security at ill 32 Greenwood Apartments. 33 34 Mr. Davis' police powers will be limited to the boundaries of the 35 Greenwood Apartments and will be assigned hours as so designated 36 by the management of the Greenwood Apartments. 37 38 Please make this effective immediately. 39 40 Chief Chris stated no one had been appointed for a period of time and they have 41 now put requirements on training which have been met. 42 • 43 Mr. Cordell moved we approve the appointment of Michael Davis as Special Police 44 Officer at the Greenwood Apartments and that his police powers will be limited 45 to the boundaries of the Greenwood Apartments, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unani- 46 mous voice vote the motion was carried. 47 48 BUREAU OF BUILDINGS MONTHLY REPORT 49 y. 50 The Board received the Bureau of Buildings monthly report for November, 1983. 51 Mr. Roberts, Bureau of Buildings Commissioner, reported that one of the permits 52 is for just the shell at the Kroger Plaza and another permit is for a London Fog 53 store at the north door by the Ward entrance of the Richmond Square Mall. The 54 one building wrecked at 1122 North "I" was ordered wrecked by the Board. It has 55 been completely wrecked by the owner, but the basement needs filling. 56 57 Mr. Cordell moved we approve the Bureau of Buildings monthly report as prepared, 58 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 59 60 AUCTION REMINDER 61 62 Chief Chris reminded the Board of the auction of confiscated property to be held 63 Saturday, December 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at the Police Garage, 615 Garden Av. , and 64 the auction of cars at 1 :30 p.m. December 3rd at the Street Department Garage. 65 66 ADJOURNMENT 67 68 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 69 70 George Webb 71 Acting President 72 ATTEST; Nancy V.
