RESOLUTION NO. 22-9989
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE
INTERIM CITY MANAGER, DARVIN WILLIAMS, TO
DESIGNATE ONE (1) RESERVED PARKING SPACE AT ALL
CITY FACILITIES FOR THE USE BY U.S. MILITARY
VETERANS; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka ("City
Commission") finds it fitting and appropriate for the City of Opa-Locka ("City") to
express its appreciation for those individuals who have served in the U.S. Armed
Forces and have thereby demonstrated a commitment to protecting and defending
freedom and liberty in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to show its appreciation for veteran
military service by designating one (1) reserved parking space for veterans at all
City facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the
City and its residents to designate one (1) reserved parking space at all City facilities.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:

Section 2. Directing Interim City Manager. The City Commission hereby
directs Interim City Manager, Darvin Williams, to designate one (1) reserved
parking space at all City facilities for the U.S. military veterans.

Section 3. Scrivener's Errors. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered
or re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not affect the intent
may be authorized by the City Manager, following review by the City Attorney,
without the need for public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City
Clerk.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately.

Staff Summary:
Staff feels it is fitting and appropriate for the City of Opa-locka to express its appreciation for their service to
those individuals who serve or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and thereby demonstrated a commitment
to protecting and defending freedom and liberty in the United States.
One way in which that appreciation may demonstrated, and which will also provide a convenience and
prividege to veterans, is to designate a reserved parking space at all City facilities.
