BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 17, 1983
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
2 in regular session February 17, 1983 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal
3 Building in said City. Mr. Webb presided with Mr. Cordell present. Mr. Meredith
4 was out of town. The following business was had, to-wit:

6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 10, 1983

8 Mr. Cordell moved the minutes be approved- and placed on file as prepared,
9 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

11 POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Chris
12 Hiring- of One (1) Officer

14 Police Chief Charles Chris read the following letter of recommendation:

16 .The following applicant for the position of Probationary Police
17 Officer with the Richmond Police Department is recommended for
18 hiring.

20 Kevin R. Dickerson, Age: 24, 1047 Sycamore Drive, Richmond, Ind.

22 -This applicant has successfully completed written examinations,
23 background investigation, physical qualifications and has been
24 accepted by the Police Pension Board.

26 This applicant has been approved by the Police Merit Commission.

- 28 It is requested that the above named individual enter police
29 service with the Richmond Police Department February 22, 1983.

III 31 Mr. Cordell moved that the request fo.r Kevin R. Dickerson be approved to
32 enter the police service of the Richmond Police Department effective
33 February 22, 1983 as a probationary officer, seconded by Mr. Webb and on
34 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

36 REMOVAL OF PLAQUE FROM STREET DEPARTMENT - McClelland

38 Louis McClelland, 621 Boston Township Road, stated that the Street Department
39 building at 700 Richmond Avenue was formerly the McClelland Casket Hardware
40 and. prior to that was the George W. Davis airplane plant. When it was the
41 McClelland .Hardware, Beatrice and Charles McClelland had. a marble plaque in
42 the foyer baseboard with their names on it. When the building was trans-
43 ferred to the City, they did not take the time to remove the plaque. Charles
44 .McClelland is now requesting to remove the plaque and states he has replace-
45 . ment marble plaques which Mr. Louis McClelland will put in place and grout.

47 .. Mr. Bill Davis, Acting Transportation Director, stated he sees no problem
48 with the replacement request.

50 Mr. Cordell moved for the, removal of the plaque from the Street Department
51 entranceway with the stipulation that when the plaque is taken out, the wiring
52 be put back as is, which is across the plaque, and the replacement marble be
53 cemented in its stead, seconded by Mr. Webb and 'on unanimous voice vote the
54 motion was carried.
