BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 6, 1983
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
2 in regular session January 6, 1983 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal
3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Cordell and Mr. Webb
4 present. The following business was had, to-wit:

6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 30, 1982

8 Mr. Webb moved the minutes be approved and placed on file as prepared, seconded
9 by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

11 BOARD ORGANIZATION

13 Election of President'for 1983

15 Mr. Webb nominated Don Meredith for president for 1983, seconded by Mr. Cordell.

17 Mr. Webb moved the nominations be closed, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on
18 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

20 On unanimous voice vote Mr. Meredith was elected president.

22 Representative to Plan Commission

24 Mr. Webb nominated Don Meredith as the representative to the Plan Commission,
25 seconded by Mr. Cordell.

27 Mr. Webb moved the nominations be closed, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on
28 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

30 On unanimous voice vote Mr. Meredith was chosen representative to the Plan
31 Commission.

111 33 PROMOTION OF JOHN MEREDITH TO REGULAR FIREFIGHTER - Chief Mullin

35 Gentlemen:

37 The following recommendation is presented to the Board of Public
38 Works and Safety for action:

40 1. John E. Meredith will complete his one (1) year probationary
41 period with the Richmond Fire Department on January 7 , 1983. I
42 recommend that he be advanced to the rank of firefighter effective
43 on that date.

47 Mr. Webb moved that John E. Meredith be promoted to the rank of firefighter
48 effective January 7, 1983, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote
49 the motion was carried.

51 HIRING OF TWO (2) PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICERS - Chief Chris

55 The following applicants for the positions of Probationary Police
56 Officers with the Richmond Police Department are recommended for
57 hiring:

59 Mark A. Harrell, Age: 27, 605 S. W. 19th Street, Richmond, Ind.

61 Melody G. Truitt, Age: 26, 7071/2 West Main St. , Richmond, Ind.

63 These applicants have successfully completed written examinations,
64 background investigation, physical qualifications and have been
65 accepted by the Police Pension Board.

1 These applicants have been approved by the Police Merit Commission.

3 It is requested that the above named individuals enter police
4 service with the Richmond Police Department January 10, 1983.

11 Mr. Webb moved that the subject recommendation be approved, seconded by
12 Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

14 BUREAU OF BUILDINGS MONTHLY REPORT - Charles Roberts

16 Building Commissioner Charles Roberts presented his report for December, 1982.

18 Mr. Webb moved the Bureau of Buildings monthly report for December 1982 be
19 accepted and placed on file, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice
20 vote the motion was carried.

22 RADIO MAINTENANCE REPORT

24 The Board received a copy of the Radio Maintenance Report for December, 1982.

26 Mr. Webb moved that the December 1982 Radio Maintenance Report be accepted
27 and placed on file, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the
28 motion was carried.

30 ADJOURNMENT

32 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed
33 the meeting was adjourned.
