CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 2, 1982
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
2 regular session September 2, 1982 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal
3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Cordell and Mr. Webb
4 present. The following business was had, to-wit:

6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 26, 1982

II/ 8 Mr. Webb moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved and placed on
9 file as prepared, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the
10 motion was carried.

12 REQUEST FOR HEALTH FAIR NATIONAL ROAD RUN - Al Cook

14 Mr. Al Cook stated the fifth National Road Run will be held on Saturday,
15 September 18 at 9:00 aim. starting at Richmond Civic Theatre and ending at
16 Glen Miller Park. They expect approximately 100 runners in the 10K run and
17 30 in the fitness run. Mr. Cook has approval from Capt. Dan Wogoman for
18 traffic control, has checked with the Park Department, and will furnish
19 insurance.

21 Mr. Webb moved that the_fifth annual National Road Run on Saturday, September
22 18 at 9:00 a.m. be approved subject to filing of insurance with the City Clerk,
23 seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

25 REQUEST FOR RHS HOMECOMING PARADE - Rob Tripp

27 Messrs. Rob Tripp, John Desmone and Tim Benton, representing the Richmond Senior
28 High School Hi-Y, requested the Homecoming Parade on Thursday, October 7 at
29 6:00 p.m. starting at 15th and East Main to Roosevelt Hill in Glen Miller Park.
30 There will be a pep session and bonfire on the hill. They expect 20 to 30 en-
31 tries and would like use of fire trucks. Capt. Wogoman and the State Highway
32 have given approval. Chief Paul Mullin stated he sees no problem with the use
33 of the trucks. They were told a certificate of insurance must be filed.

35 Mr. Webb moved that the Richmond High School Homecoming Parade for Thursday,
36 October 7 at 6:00 p.m. be approved as presented subject to a certificate of
37 insurance on file with the City Clerk and use of fire trucks as deemed ap-
38 propriate by the Chief, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote
39 the motion was carried.

41 REQUEST FOR INSTALLATION OF FIRE HYDRANTS - Chief Mullin
42
43 Fire Chief Paul Mullin recommended the installation of fire hydrants at the
44 following three (3) locations: The island at Woodgate Way & Breckenridge
45 Drive; northeast corner of S. W. 18th Street & Hidden Valley Drive; northeast
46 corner of Hidden Valley Lane & Hidden Valley Drive.

48 He noted that the charge for each hydrant this year will be approximately $337
49 and we have 925 hydrants. They are taking a close look at removing some hydrants
50 and installation of any new ones. The Chief stated they would like to maintain
51 their class 4 rating with ISO, who recommend one hydrant every 500 feet; however,
52 the trucks carry more water, men are better trained and there is more use, .of fire
53 resistant material in construction.

55 Mr. Webb moved that the subject request be approved, seconded by Mr. Cordell and
56 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

58 REQUEST FOR DRIVEWAY CUT FOR CAREFREE TRAVEL - George Webb

60 Mr. Webb presented a request for a driveway cut for Carefree Travel, 121 North
61 10th, for an off-street parking lot. The request has been checked by Traffic,
62 Planning and Engineering Departments and all recommend approval.

64 Mr. Webb moved for approval of the subject driveway request, seconded by Mr.
65 Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

3 Mayor Clifford Dickman stated he received a call from Mrs. Brown at 21c,
4 Richmond Avenue noting somebody cleaned up the alley in the 200 block of
5 Richmond Avenue. If more people took time to do what was done there, we
6 would have a beautiful City.

8 BUREAU OF BUILDINGS MONTHLY REPORT

10 Building Commissioner Charles Roberts submitted his report for August 1982.

12 Mr. Webb moved that the report of the Bureau of Buildings be accepted and
13 placed on file, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion
14 was carried.

16 REQUEST TO SET HEARING DATE FOR SALE OF PROPERTY AT 838 NORTH 12TH
17
18 Mr. Meredith set September 30, 1982 at 10:00 a.m. to hold a hearing for selling
19 property owned by the Department of Community Development. He noted the Board
20 has a letter on file from the Mayor requesting this property be sold. After
21 the hearing a recommendation will go to Common Council and, with their approval,
22 will come back to the Board to be sold. This procedure is in accordance with
23 a change in the statute.

25 RADIO MAINTENANCE MONTHLY REPORT

27 The Board received the Radio Maintenance Report for August, 1982.

29 Mr. Webb moved that the report be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Mr.
30 Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
