HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-05-1982 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 5, 1982 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met 2 in regular session August 5, 1982 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Cordell and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had; to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL, OF MINUTES OF JULY 29, 1982 7 8 Mr. Webb moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved and placed on 9 file as prepared, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the 10 motion was carried. 11 12 REQUEST FOR RESTRICTED PARKING FOR PIONEER DAY AT MUSEUM - Robert Rhoads 13 14 Mr. Robert Rhoads, President of the Wayne County Historical Society, requested 15 restricted parking along the curb around the entire block of the museum on 16 North "A", North llth, North "B" and North 12th on Sunday, September 12, 1982 17 from 1:00 to. 5:00 p.m. The purpose for the ,request is to permit horse drawn 18 vehicles to travel around the block. Traffic Capt. Dan Wogoman stated there 19 has been no problem in the past. 20 21 Mr. Webb moved that the subject request be approved, seconded by Mr. Cordell 22 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 23 24 REQUEST FOR USE OF ALLEY FOR REPAIRS AT LELAND HOTEL 25 26 Ms. Maxine Pollard, 1330 Glendale Road, stated the Leland wants to install a 27 new boiler. In order to do this, they must make a cut in the alley. She has 28 contacted all utilities and they have been marked. The north-south alley be- 29 tween 9th and 10th would have to be closed for four (4) days. Mr. Webb sug- 30 gested they should use high early strength concrete. They may need a 31 longer period of closing. 32 33 Mr. Cordell moved the subject matter be approved, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 34 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 35 36 REQUEST FOR DRIVEWAY PERMIT FOR PEOPLES HOME & SAVINGS ON SAILOR STREET - 37 George Webb 38 39 Mr. Webb presented a driveway request from Peoples for a drive-up window off 40 of the north service drive. .. He noted approval has not been given by traffic, 41 planning and engineering. Capt. Wogoman stated he looked at it yesterday and 42 it looks tight coming out onto the service drive. 43 • 44 Mr. Webb moved that the subject driveway be approved subject to traffic, 45 planning and engineering concurrence. The motion carried with Mr. Meredith 46 voting no. 47 48 REVOKE POWERS OF RESERVE OFFICER - Chief Chris • 49 50 Chief of Police Charles Chris requested the police powers''of' Reserve Officer 51 Susan J. Murray be revoked as she has resigned from the Police Reserves, 52 ' effective August 5, 1982. 53 54 Mr. Cordell moved that the request to revoke police powers of Susan J. Murray 55 be approved and that the effective date be August 5, 1982, seconded by Mr. 56 Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 57 58 BUREAU OF BUILDINGS MONTHLY REPORT - Charles Roberts 59 60 Building Commissioner Charles Roberts presented the Bureau of Buildings 61 monthly report for July, 1982. 62 63 Mr. Cordell moved that the subject matter be accepted and placed on file, 64 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. August 5, 1982 • Page 2 1 RADIO MAINTENANCE REPORT 2 3 The Board received the Radio Maintenance Report for July, 1982. 4 5 Mr. Webb moved that the subject report be accepted arid placed on file, 6 seconded. by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 7 • 8 REQUEST FOR RELOCATION OF UTILITY POLE - George Webb 9 10 Mr. Webb stated in conjunction with the traffic signal project,. it is neces- 11 sary to relocate a utility pole.belonging. to. RP.&L on the southeast corner 12 of East 22nd and Main. • RP&L' has agreed to remove the pole at their expense 13 under -the contract documents. The only utility the pole is serving now is 14 Cable TV, who will relocate, the pole on the southwest corner at their ex- . 15 pense. 16 17 Mr. Webb moved for approval of the subject pole relocation, seconded by Mr. 18 'Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 19 20 ADJOURNMENT • 21 22 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 23 24 Donald E.
