HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-08-1982 / BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 8, 1982 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session July 8, 1982 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Webb presided with Mr. Cordell present. Mr. 4 Meredith was on vacation. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JULY 1, 1982 7 8 Mr. Cordell moved the minutes of July 1 , 1982 be approved as prepared, seconded 9 by.Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. III 10 11 REQUEST TO "BLOCK 1200 BLOCK OF NORTH "F" FOR ROADRUNNERS PARTY - Felix Webster 12 13 Mr. Felix Webster, 6202 South 13th Street, requested the 1200 block of North "F" 14 be blocked on Saturday, September 4 from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. The 15 event is open to the public. Mr. Webster was told of complaints last year of 16 loud music during late hours. 17 • 18 City Attorney Ed Anderson stated the Board has the authority to authorize the 19 street to be blocked, which could be controlled by setting a time limit; and 20 the Board is authorizing a deviation to the Noise Ordinance and all noise will 21 cease at a specific time or they are subject to arrest under the Noise Ordinance. 22 23 Mr. Cordell moved the request to block the -1200 block of North "F11 Street for 24 the Roadrunners on September 4 starting at 8:00 p.m. inclusive to 1 :00 a.m. on 25 September 5, 1982, the music, etc. should be set down to low at 12:00 midnight, 26 this is extending it an hour as far as the music is concerned, seconded by Mr. 27 Webb. Mr,-Webb clarified that the music is to be low and turned off at 12:00 28 -midnight. 29 30 Mayor Dickman cautioned that the music had better be low or there would be no 31 more of these, as far as he- is concerned. People want to sleep and this is in 32 a residential area. 33 III 34 On unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.. 35 36 WEIGHTSAND MEASURES MONTHLY REPORT FOR MAY-JUNE 37 _ .. 38 - Mr. Cordell moved the Weights & Measures report be accepted for May-June, 39 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 40 41 RADIO MAINTENANCE MONTHLY REPORT 42 43 Mr. Cordell moved the Radio Maintenance report be approved for June, 1982, 44 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. ` 45 - 46 WHITEWATER GORGE - Mayor Dickman 47 48 Mayor Dickman stated the Whitewater Gorge Committee has been working for a 49 number of years to shape up the Whitewater Valley. We have allowed some dumping 50 by contractors of materials in this area to level up low areas with good fill 51 material. He requested this be stopped as we are getting trash along with this 52. now. He pleaded that anyone seeing dumping there report this to his office or 53 the Police Department. He noted the Gorge area runs from Waterfall Road to Test 54 Road. 55 56 .
