HomeMy Public PortalAboutBikeways Committee -- 2020-11-20 Minutes � ::, Brewster Bikeways Committee Meeting Minutes C11 November 20 2020 L1 ` ( Due to the current Corona Virus pandemic the meeting was held remotely via Zoom . ) lit Attendees : Joe Sullivan, Susan Riseman, George Bausch, Eric Levy, Rick Scannevin , Absent : Greg Wright Meeting called to order at 12PM . ® The review and approval of the minutes from the last meeting, March 5, 2020, was postponed until the meeting of December 18, 2020 . ® It was clarified that residents with questions or concerns can email them to the Committee . ® Eric Levy gave a review of the work that has been ongoing on the Cape Cod Rail Trail . ® They have been regularly blowing the leaves off. ® They are looking for bids to clear trees from the edge of the trail . ® No further news about the trail spur to Linnell Landing . ® The water bubbler project has been put on the back burner due to the Covid situation . He suggested talking with Select Person Mary Chaffee to get things moving again . Rick Scannevin will do more research on bubbler options . ® Eric has not been able to get information from the State regarding the number of users of the trail at Underpass Rd . crossing where they have installed a counter. Rick will get some numbers from trail counts done by the Friends of the Cape Cod Rail Trail this past summer . ® Masks are required on the CCRT. ® Joe Sullivan mentioned the Finance Committee and Select Board have had an item on their agenda regarding the Rail Trial spur to Linnell Landing . It was brought up that we had met with the Coastal Committee about the Rt . 6A crossing and they had crafted a letter to send to the Select Board . We will look for the letter. The meeting was in July of 2018 . ® Joe has been handing out bike lights on the Rail Trail as part of the Massachusetts Light Brigade campaign . ® Talk about plans for the bike brochure were tabled until the next meeting . ® George Bausch said the repaving of Satucket and Slough Roads was done and the line painting was to start Saturday, November 21St . There was some conversation regarding the size of the angled asphalt berm on the edge of the road . Joe was going to talk with Pat Ellis, head of the Brewster DPW about it. ® We discussed the use of the Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons ( RRFB) for pedestrian and bike crossings on Town owned roads . We currently have RRFBs for the Rail Trail crossings . They are being considered for some 6A locations such as Millstone, Linnell and Crosby, as well as on the new crossings on Millstone Rd . as part of that project . We will need to review how we funded the lights we have . Joe will ask Pat Ellis if he could attend the next meeting and bring us up to speed . ® In addition to talk about the water bubbler, Rick mentioned looking into possibly purchasing a bike repair station for the CCRT similar to the ones on the Old Colony and Shining Sea Trails . He will come back with more information at the next meeting . ® The next meeting will also be a Zoom meeting, December 18, 2020 at 12PM . ® Meeting adjourned at 1 : 20PM .
