Meeting was called to order at 5 : 00 PM . There was much to cover at this meeting .
® Minutes from the February 6, 2020 updated and unanimously approved .
® There was a brief discussion to clarify how citizens input should be addressed .
® Most of the discussion revolved around the upcoming Bike Day event called the " Brewster Bike
Fest Expo 2020" and the format that will be used . It is hoped that 100-200 people would be
attending/ participating .
® Joe Sullivan presented a flyer that could be used to promote the Expo . Hal Minis suggested we
be more specific in the flyer by describing some of the events so people would have an idea
about what to expect when they are there . ( See attached flyer for all the details)
® The event runs from 24 PM on Saturday, May 16th at the Eddy School Gymnasium . Registration
will be at 1 : 30. Participants will check in, sign a waiver and be directed to their starting point.
® Mike Gradone offered the use of about a dozen tables from the school that could be used by
various groups . Some of the groups we hope to attract :
® Local bike shops ( George Bausch )
® Brewster Water Department ( Eric Levy)
® Friends of the CC Rail Trail ( Rick Scannevin )
® Brewster Fire Dept. rep ( George )
® Mass DCR ( Eric)
® Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority

® Water Bottles . It was hoped we could purchase about 200 plastic bike water bottles to hand out
to the participants . We looked at a sample logo for the bottle and discussed the cost, roughly
$ 1 .00 each plus a one time $ 55 logo set up fee . We will try and see if we could get some
financial assistance from the Brewster Water Dept . and the Brewster COA , The Water Dept .
could fill the bottles at their table while promoting their "Drink Brewster Tap" which is a joint
venture with the Recycling Commission to encourage drinking local water while reducing throw
away plastic bottles .
® We hope to use some of the $ 4200 that was approved at the 2015 Annual Town Meeting for the
Bikeways use to cover the costs of printing for the flyers or possible maps .
® Biking Brochures . We discussed, briefly, having a Brewster Biking Brochure , The Brewster Police
Department has a map that we will review at a future meeting . It was brought up that maybe
we could get the Graphic Arts program at one of the local schools involved in the design .
® We talked about bike safety and training concerning the incoming group of summer help that
will soon be here . George said the Brewster PD was handling the J1 students . Joe said the
Bikeways would be willing to assist. We will ask Ocean Edge if there is anything the Bikeways
Committee could do to help them out .
® There are a number of rides that pass through Brewster over the course of the summer and Joe
presented a list of quite a few . We decided we would need to sift through the list to see which
ones we' d like to get involved with . We shelved this for future consideration as we were getting
short on time .
® Eric said the State is pushing forward on the Rail Trail extensions at the Yarmouth and Wellfleet
ends . As far as the spur trail down to Crosby Landing it seems to have lost steam . The Town
doesn't like the idea of crossing lights and a bridge or tunnel is too expensive .
® There is money available for bike racks again from the CC Commission . Greg had done a survey
of Town properties a few years back and was going to come back with that at a future meeting .
® Eric thanked the Brewster Department of Public Works for their outstanding job of flail mowing
along the CCRT in Brewster. Thanks Pat Ellis and crew !
® We are undecided on whether or not to participate in the Brewster in Bloom Parade this spring
which is May 3rd .
® Hal Minis announced he is stepping down from the Bikeways Committee . As you all know, Hal
has been active in many different committees here in Brewster. Thanks Hal for all you have
done for the Bikeways Committee !
® Next meeting April 2nd , 5 : 00 PM
® Meeting adjourned .
