HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-01-1982 _515- BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, APRIL 1, 1982 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session April 1, 1982 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Cordell and Mr. Webb 4 present. . The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MARCH 25, 1982 7 111 8 Mr. Cordell moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 . REQUEST FOR FARMER'S MARKET - Charles Springer 12 13 Mr. Charles Springer requested the use of the north one-half .of. the City-owned 14 parking lot on North "A" between 6th and 7th from June 26 through the end of 15 October for the Farmer's Market. The hours will be 7:00 a.m. to noon on 16 Saturdays. Vendors are asked to sign a waiver of liability and are asked to 17 clean up their trash. Mr. Springer, Capt. Dan Wogoman and City Attorney Ed 18 Anderson stated they have experienced no problems. 19 20 Mr. Webb moved for approval of the Farmer's Market subject to the people 21 signing the required hold harmless agreement with the City, seconded by 22 Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 23 24 REQUEST FOR 2 HOUR PARKING IN 100 BLOCK OF SOUTH 6TH - Ridgeway 25 26 Mr. Ridgeway stated his' request is for two (2) hour parking on the east side 27 of South 6th between 109 and 115 only. There is space to park four (4) vehicles 28 in this area. Capt. Wogoman emphasized that this area will be on regular 29 routine policing by the parking enforcement officer. 30 31 Mr. Webb moved that the Board of Works authorize the Traffic Division to III 32 limit parking in the area of 109 to 115 South 6th Street on the east side 33 of the street to two (2) hour parking, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on 34 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 35 36 PROMOTION OF TIM CLARK TO REGULAR FIREFIGHTER 37 38 Fire Chief Paul Mullin recommended Timothy Clark be advanced to the rank of 39 firefighter .effective April 2, 1982 as he will complete his one (1) year ' 40 probationary period. 41 42 Mr. Webb moved that the recommendation be approved, seconded by Mr. Cordell 43 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 44 45 UTILITY AGREEMENT WITH RP&L ON SOUTH "L" BETWEEN SOUTH 8TH AND SOUTH 23RD - 46 . George Webb 47 48 City Engineer George Webb presented a utility agreement between the Board of 49 Public Works & Safety and Richmond Power & Light for South "L" Street from 8th 50 Street to 23rd Street. 51 52 Mr. Webb moved that the subject utility agreement with RP&L be accepted by the 53 Board of Public Works and Safety, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous 54 voice vote the motion was carried. 55 56 BUREAU OF BUILDINGS MONTHLY REPORT -' Charles Roberts 57 58 Building Commissioner Charles Roberts presented his monthly report for March, 1982. 59 60 Mr. Webb moved that the Bureau of Buildings monthly report be accepted and 61 placed on file, seconded by Mr. Cordell and on unanimous voice vote the motion 62 was carried. . April 1, 1982 Page 2 1 RECOGNITION OF CHIEF CHRIS FOR COMPLETING _TWENTY (20) YEARS OF SERVICE 2 3 Mr. Meredith officially congratulated Chief Chris for twenty (20) years of 4 service with the Richmond Police Department.. As President of the Board 5 he hereby ordered that in the future he be treated with more respect. 6 7 ADJOURNMENT 8 9 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 10 11 Donald E.
