Richmond., Indiana, met 2 in regular session March .25, _1982 at .the hour of .9.:0.0. a.m. .inthe Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Cordell present. 4 Mr. Webb was on vacation. The-following. business was had, to-wit: . 5 6 APPROVAL OF. MINUTES OF ,MARCH -18, 1982 7 8 Mr. Cordell moved to approve the minutes of the-previous meeting_ as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. 'Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 FIRE .DEPARTMENT RETIREMENT ' . 12 13 Fire Chief Paul. Mullin recommended Capt....James Ghearing .request. for.retirement. 14 and to be placed on. the.pension rolls effective March 22, 1982 be accepted. 15 Capt., Ghearing completed thirty-one (31) years of service with the department 16 on March' 16., 1982. 17 18 Mr. Cordell moved to accept the retirement, seconded by, Mr.' Meredith and on 19 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. . - 20 21 FIRE DEPARTMENT HIRING 22 23 Fire Chief Paul Mullin recommended the appointment of Mr. Donnie Ray Black 24 of the department as a probationary firefighter effective' March 26, 1982. 25 26 Mr. Cordell moved to accept Donnie Black -as a probationary fireman effective- 27 March 26, 1982, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the 28 motion was carried. 29 30 REQUEST FOR TWO (2) CURB CUTS FOR WARNER ..SCHOOL . 31 - 32.. Mr. Dave Harbin, representing Jacobs-Maze Associates, Inc. , appeared with a 33 request: from. Richmond .Community Schools at Warn or School, �32 N. 7th for 34 two (2) curb cuts. One cut .is to be ,off Ft. Wayne Avenue 'and the other off 35 North 7th at "C". Thus is to provide parking for the employees of the 36 maintenance facility in a controlled fenced in area with gates. The blacktop 37 is sturdy enough to withstand the traffic. There will be fifteen (15) parking 38 spaces and the school .will maintain the remaining area for a playground area 39 for the neighborhood. Mr. Meredith noted there should be stop signs out of 40 the lot with 7th marked as one way. The request has approval of the Engineering, 41 Traffic and Planning Departments. 42 43 Mr. Cordell moved the request for the two (2) curb cuts at Warner School be 44 approved, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 45 carried. 46 ' . . 47 WITHDRAWAL OF REQUEST TO• USE CITY BUILDING AS VOTING PLACE ON ELECTION--DAY ' 48 49 Approval had previously been given for use of the City Building for voting 50 on Election Day. The Clerk read the following letter:. 51 52 March 23, 1982 53 54 Donald Meredith, President 55 Board of Works 56 City Building III57 Richmond, Indiana 47374 58 59 Mr.. Meredith; '60 61 I am writing to withdraw our request to 'v.se the City 62 Building as a voting place on election day. 63 64 Thank you for your kind consideration and cooperation. Meredith and 7 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 REPORT ON BAGGED TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT 6TH,�.&,: .7TH AND 'PROMENADE 10 11 Mr. Meredith noted we are approaching the end of the thirty (30) day trial 12 period of the bagging of traffic signals at 6th & 7th and Promenade. There 13 have been no calls received by him or Traffic Capt. Dan Wogoman concerning 14 these intersections. 15 16 WEIGHTS AND MEASURES MONTHLY REPORT 17 18 Mr. Cordell moved to accept the monthly report of Weights and Measures for 19 February 1982, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the 20 motion was carried. 21 22 ADJOURNMENT 23 24 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 25 26 Donald E.
