HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-11-1981 //S BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 11, 1981 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session June 11, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building 3 in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb present. 4 The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JUNE 4, 1981 78 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 REQUEST FOR LIONS CLUB TO USE PARKING GARAGE FOR FLEA MARKET - Jerry Haynes 12 13 Mr. Haynes requested the use of the first and second floors for the third annual 14 flea market of the Lions' Club. This area will be used for booths and exhibi- 15 tors. The Club will provide for the closing of the area and surveillance. The 16 request is for Sunday, July 19 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 17 18 Mr. Anderson moved to grant the request of the Lions Club to use the parking 19 garage on July 19 from the hours of 7:00 to 4:00 for their third annual flea 20 market, seconded;by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 21 22 REQUEST TO SET DATE TO RECEIVE BIDS ON PARKING GATES - Jerry Haynes 23 24 Mr. Haynes requested the Board set a date to receive bids on parking equipment 25 gates and a total overhaul of existing related parking equipment. This will 26 include the existing nine (9) entrance-exit gates on off-street parking system 27 and rehab of ticket dispensers. 28 29 Mr. Meredith set the date of July 2, 1981 at 10:00 a.m. to receive these bids. 30 31 FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Mullin 32 PROMOTION OF ALLEN CHAMBERLAIN TO FIREFIGHTER III 33 34 Chief Mullin recommended Allen Chamberlain be advanced to the rank of firefighter 35 effective June 6, 1981 as he has completed his one (1) year probationary period 36 with the Fire Department. 37 38. Mr. Anderson moved to accept the recommendation of the Chief, seconded by Mr. 39 Webb and on un ,nimous voice vote the motion was carried. 40 41 REQUEST FOR SCHOOL ATTENDANCE 42 43 Chief Mullin requested permission to send the Fire Marshall and two (2) Deputy 44 Fire Marshalls to the 19th Annual Arson Seminar sponsored by the National 45 Association of Fire Investigators to be held in Chicago August 12, 13 and 14. 46 47 Mr. Webb moved the subject request be approved, seconded by Mr. Anderson and 48 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 49 50 REQUEST PERMISSION TO BLOCK SERVICE DRIVE BETWEEN NORTH 7th & 8th FOR ROSE 51 FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES - Capt. Wogoman 52 53 Capt. Wogoman stated he is concerned with congestion in the north service 54 drive between 7th & 8th Street on June 24, 25 and 26. In the interest of 55 public safety, he requested permission to block this drive at both ends 56 when the Traffic Division deems it necessary. 57 58 Mr. Anderson moved to grant the permission to the Police Department, Capt. 59 Wogoman, to block the service drive between North 7th & 8th Street for the 60 Rose Festival activities on the dates of June 24, 25 and 26 at those hours 61 and times that he finds so necessary and convenient, seconded by Mr. Webb 62 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. //C, Board of Public Works & Safety Minutes Cont'd. June 11, 1981 Page 2 1 REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY IN 300 BLOCK OF S. W. 4th - Capt. Wogoman 2 3 Capt. Wogoman presented a request from Officer Shoemaker to hold their fourth 4 annual block party on Friday, June 19th from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. in the 300 5 block of S. W. 4th. 6 7 Mr. Anderson moved to grant the request for a block party, seconded by Mr. 8 Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 9 10 UTILITY AGREEMENT FOR SIGNALIZATION - George Webb 11 12 City Engineer George Webb presented signed right-of-way agreements from 13 Clearview Cable TV which he received this week. 14 15 Mr. Webb moved the Board accept the right-of-way agreements as a necessary 16 part of the signalization project, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous 17 voice vote the motion was carried. 18 19 REQUEST TO SET UNSAFE BUILDING HEARING DATES - Charles Roberts - 20 21 Building Commissioner Charles Roberts requested dates be set for unsafe 22 building hearings on properties located at 214 South 16th Street and 106 23 S. W. "F" Street. 24 25 Mr. Meredith set July 9, 1981 at 10:00 a.m. for the 214 South 16th Street 26 hearing and July 16, 1981 at 10:00 a.m. for the 106 S. W. "F" Street hearing. 27 28 MONTHLY REPORT OF WEIGHTS &MEASURES 29 30 The Board received the May report from the Department of Weights and Measures. 31 32 Mr. Webb moved the report of the.Department of Weights & Measures be accepted 33 and placed on file, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the 34 motion was carried. 35 36 ADJOURNMENT 37 . - 38 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 39 40 Donald E.
