HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-04-1981 //3 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 4, 1981 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session June 4, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson present. 4 Absent: Mr. Webb. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MAY 28, 1981 7 8 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as 9 prepared, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion 10 was carried. 11 12 REQUEST FOR MARATHON FOR ROSE FESTIVAL - Marc Duning 13 - 14 Mr. Marc Duning, representing the Athletic Annex, requested permission and 15 police traffic cooperation to use Hayes Arboretum Road from National Road 16 East north across Woodside Drive to the entrance of the Arboretum June 27 17 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The request is for a quarter marathon race of 6.2 18 miles with anticipated 100 to 125 participants. The only City street in- 19 volved is Hayes Arboretum Road from National Road to the back entrance of 20 the Arboretum. Chief Chris expressed concern over the participants getting 21 from the Gateway Mall across National Road East to participate in the race. 22 The Police;Department will work with Mr. Duning to solve this potential 23 problem. 24 25 Mr. Anderson moved to authorize the request for the marathon for the Rose 26 Festival sponsored by the Athletic Annex to be held in Hayes Arboretum on 27 the route as discussed with the cooperation of the Police Department for 28 the security required between the hours of 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. on June 27, 29 1981, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 30 carried. 31 32 AWARD BID FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT NO. 6-81-1-1 - Tim Ryder III 33 34 Last week bids were accepted for this project. Mr. Ryder recommends the 35 bid of Bertrum Construction in the amount of $107,683.36 be accepted and 36 the Board award the contract to that firm. There will be a pre-construction 37 conference next Monday and it is hoped construction will begin a week from 38 today. 39 40 •Mr. Anderson moved to accept the recommendation, seconded by Mr. Meredith 41 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 42 43 REPORT ON UNSAFE BUILDING HEARING FOR 1005 EAST MAIN - Charles Roberts 44 45 Mr. Roberts reported he talked with the man who is going to demolish the 46 building yesterday. Due to the rain in the month of May he has been unable 47 to get the job done; however, he stated he will get it done this week-end. 48 49 Mr. Meredith requested Mr. Roberts report back to the Board next week, if 50 this is not done by then. 52 53 MONTHLY REPORT FROM BUREAU OF BUILDINGS 54 55 A written report was presented to the Board by Mr. Roberts. 56 57 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the report, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on 58 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 59 60 MONTHLY REPORT FROM RADIO MAINTENANCE 61 62 A written report was presented to the Board. 63 64 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the report, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on Board of Works Minutes Cont'd.
