BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 7, 1981
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
2 in regular session May 7 , 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal
3 Building in said City. Mr. Anderson presided ,with Mr. Webb present. Mr.
4 Meredith was out of town. The following business was had, to-wit:

6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF APRIL 30, 1981

8 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded
9 by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

11 FISCAL PLAN

13 City Plan Director Bob Goodwin discussed the Henley Hills Annexation and
14 requested a discussion with the Board at a later date.

16 Mr. Webb moved to take the fiscal plan under advisement, seconded by Mr.
17 Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

19 FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Mullin
20 Promotion of Two (2) Probationary Firefighters to 1st Class
21 _-rr,
22 Fire Chief Paul Mullin recommended promotions of Probationary Firefighters
23 Oscar Abner and Bobby Joe Hamilton to the rank of firefighters, effective
24 May 8, 1981.

26 Mr. Webb moved the subject request be approved, seconded by Mr. Anderson
27 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

29 Permission to hold training program

31 Chief Mullin requested permission to hold training sessions for firemen at
32 vacated residences at 800,804,807,809 and 822 North "G" Street and at 631
33 North 8th for a month or month and a half.

35 Community Development Director Tim Ryder commented that the Community
36 Development grant has been used to purchase these properties and relocate
37 families. This will benefit our department and the City in that the burn-
38 ing will not only provide training for the firemen but a savings of demoli-
39 tion money which can used for more positive action.

41 Mr. Anderson moved to grant permission per request of the Fire Chief,
42 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

44 Request to transport ball players

46 Fire Chief Mullin requested permission for the firefighters to transport
47 members of the ball club they sponsor from Parkview School to the Little
48 League ball diamond on May 17, 1981 at 12:45 p.m. on a fire truck.

50 Mr. Anderson so moved, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote
51 the motion was carried.

53 REQUEST TO BLOCK STREET FOR BLOCK PARTY - Mrs. Robert Letts

55 Mrs. Robert Letts, 1812 East Drive, requested permission of the Board to
56 block the corner of Middle and East Drive in Berry Field on May 30, 1981
57 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. for a neighborhood block party

59 Mr. Anderson moved to grant the request, seconded by Mr. Webb and on
60 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

62 MONTHLY REPORT OF BUILDING COMMISSIONER - Charles Roberts

64 Bureau of Buildings Commissioner Charles Roberts presented his report for

1 April 1981, noting that permits for nine (9) new dwellings is almost a record.

3 Mr. Webb moved the report of the Building Commissioner be accepted and filed,
4 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

6 WEIGHTS & MEASURES REPORT FOR APRIL

8 Board members received a copy of the Weights & Measures report for April 1981.

10 Mr. Anderson moved that the Weights & Measures report be placed on file,

11 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

13 RADIO MAINTENANCE REPORT

15 Board members received a copy of the Radio Maintenance report.

17 Mr. Anderson moved to take the report under advisement, seconded by Mr. Webb
18 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

20 INFORMATION CONCERNING-CLEAR CREEK PARK ENTRANCES
21
22 Traffic Capt. Dan Wogoman informed Board members that construction on the
23 new bridge is starting today and the entrances from National Road West and
24 from S. W. 13th St. will be closed until about October 15th and entry must
25 be obtained from Main Street.
