HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-19-1981 :Y% BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 19, 1981 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session March 19, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith__presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MARCH 12, 1981 7 8 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of March 12, 1981 as prepared, seconded 9 by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 REQUEST FOR RESERVE AND EXPLORERS FAIR - Dale Sharits & Kenneth Miller 12 13 Mr. Dale Sharits, representing Explorers, and Mr. Kenneth Miller, repre- 14 senting the Reserves for the Richmond Police Department, presented a request 15 for Board approval for the use of a Redevelopment Commission lot located at 16 South "A" and South 8th Streets. Accompanying their request was a letter 17 of permission from the Redevelopment Commission and a confirmation of 18 Jimmy Chanos Shows insurance company agreeing to increase their maximum 19 liability limits to .$1,000,000 during the 4/2/81 to 4/11/81 request period. 20 A certificate will be issued and forwarded. Proceeds will be used for the 21 Explorer's summer camp and the Richmond Reserve Police Unit equipment. 22 Closing time will be 11:00 p.m. Mr. Meredith expressed concern over there 23 being a dust problem and it was agreed this could_ be dealt with if one 24 should arise by the Explorers and Reserves. There was no request for 25 additional parking. 26 27 Mr. Anderson moved that the City of Richmond endorse the Redevelopment Com- 28 mission's agreement for the use of property in the 500 block of South "A" 29 Street for a fund raising event for the Richmond Police Department Reserve 30 Units and the Richmond Police Department Explorer Post 95 during the dates 31 of April 2 through April 11 all in compliance with a letter dated March 6, 32 1981 of indorsement by the Redevelopment Commission, seconded by Mr. Webb 33 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 34 35 REQUEST FOR PUBLIC ACCEPTANCE OF S. W. 18th STREET AND HIDDEN VALLEY DRIVE - 36 REQUEST FOR PLAT APPROVAL FOR HIDDEN VALLEY SEC. 9 - Ed Nicholson 37 38 Mr. Nicholson requested public acceptance of S. W. 18th Street and Hidden 39 Valley Drive. He presented three (3) maintenance bonds. (1) $20,000 from 40 DeLucio on sewage ..(2) $20,000 from Stone Valley Paving on paving (3) 41 $10,000 letter of credit on curbs from Nicholson Builders. Mr. Anderson 42 stated he was satisfied with the bonds, but will request further clarifi- 43 cation from 1st National Bank. 44 45 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the sureties of DeLucio for sewage system, the 46 Stone Valley for paving and the curbs from the 1st National Bank Irrevocable 47 . Letter of Credit subject to the Bank's furnishing to the Board of Public 48 Works a copy of the "Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits 49 (1974 Revision) , International Chamber of Commerce Brochure No. 290", 50 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 51 52 Mr. Nicholson presented contracts for Hidden Valley Sec. 9 from Stone 53 Valley Paving, DeLucio and Nicholson Builders. These contracts are to satisfy 54 the performance bond requirements. This request will go to the Plan Com- 55 mission March 24. 56 57 Mr. Webb moved for final acceptance of Hidden Valley Sec. 9, seconded by Mr. 58 Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 59 60 SET DATE FOR NUISANCE HEARING FOR 1109 PARRY STREET 61 62 Mr. Meredith set April 9 at 10:00 to hear a nuisance complaint located at 63 1109 Parry Street. The owner is David Dilly and the occupant is Charles 64 Stikeleather. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd. March 19, 19v1 Page 2 1 REQUEST FOR YWCA MEMBERSHIP PARADE - Jo Faust 2 3 Ms. Faust requested holding a membership parade on Saturday, April 4 4 at 11:00 a.m. beginning at the Municipal Parking Lot across from the Library 5 down North "A" to 5th, down 5th to South "A", down South "A" to 9th and back 6 to the "Y". This was the route used last year. Ms. Faust presented a 7 permit from the State. 8 9 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the request for the YWCA to have a membership 10 parade on April 4, 1981 commencing at 11:00 a.m. on the route as prescribed, 11 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 12 13 MONTHLY REPORT OF WEIGHTS & MEASURES 14 15 Board members received a copy of the Weights & Measures 'Report for February, 16 1981. 17 18 Mr. Webb moved the report be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Mr. 19 Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 20 21 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 22 23 Donald E.
