HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-12-1981 7; BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 12, 1981 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session March 12, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 n ,'. 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MARCH 5, 1981 7 11/ 8 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of March 5, 1981 as prepared, seconded 9 by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 REQUEST FOR RIDE-A-BIKE FOR RETARDED..ROUTE APPROVAL - Pam Anthrop & Ellen Rogers 12 13 This event will be held on May 2, 1981 at 1:00 p.m. The purpose is to earn 14 money for the Special Olympics events. The route is the same as last year and 15 they had approximately 250 participants last year. The route has been checked 16 and approved by Capt. Wogoman. Traffic will assist at 1st and National and 17 1st and West Main. 18 19 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the Ride-A-Bike for Retarded sponsored by the 20 Indiana State Teachers` Association on May 2, 1981 commencing at 1 :00 p.m. on 21 the route as prescribed, seconded by Mr. Webb. It was noted the rain date is 22 May 3. On unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 23 24 ROSE FESTIVAL PARADE ROUTE REQUEST - Chuck Hamilton 25 26 Mr. Hamilton stated the parade will be on June 28, 1981 commencing at 2:00 p.m. 27 using the same route as last year. Discussion was held on insurance coverage 28 and Mr. Hamilton stated the City could be included in the coverage and a hold 29 harmless agreement could be furnished the City. There were 28 floats last 30 year with a total of 120 to 150 units in the parade. 31 32 Mr. Anderson moved to authorize the Richmond Area Rose Festival to hold and 33 conduct a parade on June 28, 1981 from the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the 34 route as prescribed subject to submission to the City of Richmond a proof of 35 insurance by said corporation and subject to submission to the City of Rich- 36 mond a- hold harmless agreement and subject to all emergency decisions during 37 such parade be made by the Richmond Police Department, seconded by Mr. Webb. 38 Mr. Meredith noted the motion did not include time for staging which Mr. 39 Hamilton said will begin at 8:00 a.m. Mr. Anderson amended his motion includ- 40 ing permission for all staging requirements and authorization for public 41 seating on sidewalk areas between 11th and 13th Streets on North "A" Street, 42 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice note the amended motion was carried. 43 44 REPORT,=FROM' CARL BARGMAN ON PROGRESS OF 1900-1902 NORTH "E" UNSAFE BUILDING 45 HEARING 46 47 Mr. Bargman reported he has entered into an agreement to sell the properties 48 to Mr. Jeff King and is in the process of having a contract drawn. Mr. King 49 owns eleven (11) buildings in the City and employs two (2) maintenance men. 50 Mr. King has indicated to Mr. Bargman that he will be in for a building per- 51 mit this week or next to begin restoration of the properties. Mr. Bargman 52 requested the Board stay any action. Mr. Bargman stated he is buying the 53 properties on contract from Mr. Nelson Burton. Building Commissioner Charles 54 Roberts stated nothing has been done in the last thirty (30) days and would 55 like something in writing from Mr. King as to his intentions with a time 56 frame for starting and completion. 57 58 Mr. Webb moved that the order be stayed for two (2) more weeks, seconded by 59 Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 60 61 RADIO MAINTENANCE REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 62 63 Mr. Meredith moved the report be accepted, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 64 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. March 12, 1981 Page 2 1 DRIVEWAY PETITION FOR INDIANA TOOL COMPANY 2 3 Mr. Webb presented a driveway petition to locate-_a drive off new Industrial 4 Parkway north of Old U.S. 40 east. The petition has been approved by 5 Engineering, Traffic and Planning Departments. 6 7 Mr. Webb moved for approval of the subject request, seconded by Mr. Meredith 8 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 9 10 ADJOURNMENT 11 u3 12 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 13 14 Donald E.
