HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-26-1981 73 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 26, 1981 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session February 26, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the 3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson 4 and Mr. Webb present. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 19, 1981 7 III8 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 REPORT OF BUILDING COMMISSIONER ON DEMOLITION OF 900 NORTH 12TH STREET 12 13 Mr. Roberts presented a picture taken yesterday morning showing demolition 14 has been started. Mr. Meredith requested Mr. Roberts report back to the 15 Board when the demolition is completed. 16 17 POLICE DEPARTMENT RESIGNATION AND RETIREMENT - Simonds & Deakins 18 19 Chief Charles Chris recommended acceptance of Patrolman Robert V. Deakins' 20 resignation from the Police Department. The Chief recommended Patrolman 21 Deakins be placed on the retired roll as of February 21, 1981 and he will 22 be eligible to receive retirement benefits on September 8, 1981. 23 24 Mr. Webb moved the subject request be approved, seconded by Mr. Anderson 25 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 26 27 Chief Chris recommended acceptance of the resignation of Patrolman Kirk 28 Simonds from the Richmond Police Department effective. February 27, 1981. 29 30 Mr. Webb moved the subject request be approved, seconded by Mr. Anderson 31 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. _ 32 33 HIRING OF PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTER - James Perrin 34 35 Fire Chief Paul Mullin recommended the appointment of Mr. James Perrin to 36 the Fire Department as a probationary firefighter effective February 26, 1981. 37 38 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the recommendation, seconded by Mr. Webb and 39 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 40 41 DEDICATION OF UNIVERSITY BLVD. , ELMHURST DRIVE, SERVICE DRIVE BETWEEN 42 NO. 5th & NO. 6th UNIVERSITY BLVD. 43 44 City Engineer George Webb presented the dedication of University Blvd. 45 which was a part of a planned unit development and as such was never 46 dedicated or accepted as a street. 47 48 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the dedication, seconded by Mr. Webb and 49 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 50 51 ELMHURST DRIVE 52 53 Deputy Director of City Planning Dan Dooley stated the Plan Commission 54 conducted a public hearing on referral from the Board of Works and pre- 55 sented the following letter of recommendation which the Clerk read: 56 57 Re: PDP-81-4 58 Dedication of Public Right-of-way 59 60 The RichmondCityrPlan Commission conducted a public hearing on 61 Tuesday, February 24, 1981, on a petition to dedicate public 62 right-of-way located at the north end of Elmhurst Drive in the 63 City of Richmond, Indiana. 7' Board of Public Works Minutes Cont'd. February 26, 1981 Page 2 1 During the public hearing, no one spoke in opposition to the 2 requested dedication. 3 4 Therefore, the Plan Commission voted eight (8) to zero (0) 5 to recommend the dedication be accepted. 6 7 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the dedication, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 8 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 9 10 SERVICE DRIVE BETWEEN 5th & 6th 11 12 Mr. Dooley stated the Plan Commission conducted a public hearing on referral 13 from the Board of Works and presented the following letter recommendation, 14 which the Clerk read: 15 16 Re: PDP-81-2 17 Dedication of Public Right-of-way 18 19 The Richmond City Plan Commission held a public hearing on Tuesday, 20 February 24, 1981, on a petition to dedicate public right-of-way to 21 be used in conjunction with the service drive between North 5th and 22 North 6th Streets in order to provide a more satisfactory turning 23 radius for vehicular traffic on said service drive turning onto 24 North 5th Street. 25 26 During the public hearing, no one spoke in opposition to the 27 requested dedication. 28 29 Therefore, the Plan Commission voted eight (8) to zero (0) to 30 recommend the dedication be accepted. 31 32 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the dedication, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 33 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 34 35 VACATION - NORTH OF SERVICE DRIVE BETWEEN NO. 5th & NO. 6th STREET 36 37 Mr. Dooley stated the Plan Commission conducted a public hearing on referral 38 from the Board of Works and presented the following letter recommendation, 39 which the Clerk read: 40 41 Re: PDP-81-3 42 Vacation of Public Right-of-way 43 44 The Richmond City Plan Commission held a public hearing on Tuesday, 45 February 24, 19i1, on Declaratory Resolution No. 2-1981 vacating 46 public right-of-way adjacent to the north line of the service drive 47 between North 5th and North 6th Streets. 48 49 During the public hearing no one spoke in opposition to the 50 requested vacation. 51 52 Therefore, the Plan Commission voted eight (8) to zero (0) to 53 recommend the request for vacation be granted. 54 55 Mr. Anderson moved to adopt a confirmatory resolution accepting this vacation, 56 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 57 58 APPROVAL OF FINAL PLANS OF WOODGATE SECTION 3 59 60 Mr. Thomas Winemiller, representing Charles Miles presented final plans of 61 Woodgate Section 3 to the Board for approval. The plans were given Plan 62 Commission approval_last Tuesday night subject to Board of Works approval. 63 Mr. Anderson found the surety satisfactory. • 7,5 Board of Works Minutes Cont'd.
