HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-29-1981 Sj BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 29, 1981 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session January 29, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had, . to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 7 8 Mr. Webb moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 RETURN OF HOSTAGES - Thanks given 12 13 Mr. Meredith announced the President of the United States has declared this 14 a day of giving thanks for the release and safe return of the hostages. A 15 few moments of silence was observed. 16 17 PROMOTION OF PROBATIONARY PATROLMAN - Brad Berner 18 19 Chief of Police Charles Chris recommended that Officer Bradley E. Berner be 20 advanced from the rank of Probationary Patrolman to that of Patrolman on the 21 Richmond Police Department effective February 1, 1981. The Chief noted 22 Officer Berner has been above average as a probationary officer. 23 24 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the recommendation of the Chief, seconded by 25 Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 26 27 ROAD MILEAGE UPDATE 28 29 City Engineer George Webb stated the Engineer's office has completed an in- 30 ventory of City streets to make sure the City gets their share of gasoline 31 tax and they find that they can add 1.24 miles of road plus another 14 miles 111 32 which came in through annexation for a total additional 22 miles. The streets 33 are Foxboro Court, Quail Hill Drive, extension of Industrial Parkway, exten- 34 sion of Dana Parkway and the north and south service drives. 35 36 Mr. Webb moved that the aforementioned streets be approved as a part of the 37 City street system, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the 38 motion was carried. 39 40 STREET DEDICATION - South 9th & "E" 41 42 Mr. Webb stated this is a project which has been pursued for three or four 43 years in conjunction with the new signal project and Mr. John Miller has 44' agreed to dedicate a parcel of land of .016 acres at South 9th & "E" on the 45 N. E. corner to straighten out the curve. Mr. Anderson has prepared a 46 street dedication. 47 48 Mr. Webb moved that the Board of Works accept this parcel as a part of the 49 public street, seconded by Mr. Anderson. The project is 100% federally 50 funded but right-of-way is not reimbursable, so the City does owe Mr. Miller 51 thanks for dedicating this property so the necessary improvements can be 52 made. The Mayor stated he will send a letter of thanks to Mr. Miller. 53 54 On unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 55 56 UNSAFE BUILDING HEARING - 900 North 12th - Andrew Wright, Jr. 57 58 Building Commissioner Charles Roberts reported on January 6 Thomas Wright 59 got a permit to demolish this structure. Mr. Roberts presented a copy of 60 the permit to the Board. Mr. Wright was not present for this hearing. Mr. 61 Meredith extended the hearing and scheduled February 26, 1981 for the 62 hearing at which time there will be a report by Mr. Roberts. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd.
