HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-22-1981 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 22, 1981 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session January 22, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Anderson presided with Mr. Webb present. Mr. 4 Meredith was out of town. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 15, 1981 7 8 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 9 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Mullin 12 13 Chief Paul Mullin recommended the promotion of Gregory Knarzer to the rank 14 of Fire Fighter, First Class, effective January 21, 1981. 15 16 Chief Mullin also recommended the promotion of Rick Wright to the rank of 17 Fire Fighter, First Class, effective January 24, 1981. 18 19 Mr. Anderson moved for approval of recommendation of the Chief, seconded 20 by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 21 22 REPORT ON STREET LIGHT REQUEST - Hibberd Dr. 23 24 Mr. Webb reported on the request of the Street Light Committee for instal- 25 lation of four (4) 175 Watt Post Top Street Lights on South 11th and Hibberd 26 Drive, and the removal of two (2) present 250 Watt Mercury Vapor Lights on 27 wood poles. He stated he and Mr. Meredith had checked the area at night 28 and the two (2) mercury vapor lights installed last fall seemed to be doing 29 an adequate job. In the immediate area, most of the lights are the 250 30 watt pole type lights. They could see no real advantage to traffic safety 31 as all the intersections are well lighted at this time. The change from 32 the present two (2) mercury to the four (4) post top lights would cause 33 an increase of $23.74 per month. Mr. Webb moved to deny the request, 34 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 35 36 ADJOURNMENT 37 38 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. 39 40 Edward N.
