CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 15, 1981
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
2 in regular session January 15, 1981 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal
3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb
4 present. The following business was had, to-wit:

6 APPROVAL OF MINUTES

8 Mr. Webb moved the minutes be approved as presented, seconded by Mr. Anderson
9 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

11 REQUEST FOR MARCH OF DIMES WALK-A-THON
12
13 Mr. Charles Wise, Chairman of the Wayne County March of Dimes, requested per-
14 mission for the annual Walk America on April 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
15 using the same route as was used last year. He presented a copy of the route
16 which starts at Seaton South and covers 30 kilometers; Last year there were
17 approximately 400 participants and they are expecting. 500 to participate this
18 year. Capt. Wogoman approved and noted they furnished an officer at 5th and
19 "A" last year.

21 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the March of Dimes Walk America on April 25 on
22 the route as designated from the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. , seconded
23 by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

25 Mr. Meredith suggested the Committee consider the Gorge Trail for their walk
26 in the future.

28 REQUEST FROM STREET LIGHT COMMITTEE

30 Mr. Webb presented a request from the Street Light Committee for the South 11th
31 and Hibberd Drive area. The Board members stated they have not had a chance to
III 32 look at the area yet.

34 Mr. Anderson moved to take the request under advisement, seconded by Mr. Webb
35 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

37 CURB CUT REQUESTS

39 Mr. Webb presented a request from Robert Phillips for a driveway at 535 Commerce
40 Road where a mini warehouse is to be constructed. The request has been checked
41 by Traffic, Plan and Engineering Departments and all recommend approval.

43 Mr. Webb moved for approval of the subject request, seconded by Mr. Anderson
44 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

46 Mr. Webb presented a request from Dr. Gerald Ackerman for a driveway at 1923
47 Chester Blvd. for a part of a planned unit development which has been reviewed
48 by the Plan Department. This request has been checked by Traffic, Plan and
49 Engineering Departments and all recommend approval. The request will be sub-
50 ject to State Highway approval. Mr. Webb noted the request will remove two (2)
51 drives and build one (1) new one.

53 Mr. Webb moved for approval of the subject request, seconded by Mr. Anderson
54 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

56 REPORT ON UNSAFE BUILDING - 1900-1902 North "E"

58 Mr. Anderson noted from the minutes of December 4, 1980 noting .unsafe..buildings
59 do exist at the above locations and the owners are to appear today to bring the
60 Board up to date on the proceedings as they exist at this time. Neither the
61 owners nor any representatives were present. Mr. Anderson stated the matter
62 is whether to continue the stay, or go back to the original hearing and affirm
63 or modify or revoke the order of the Building Commissioner. Mr. Roberts stated
64 the only change is that the lower sections have been boarded up as shown in

1 pictures he presented which were taken this morning. The owners have made no
2 contact as to their plans.

4 Mr. Meredith moved that due to the fact that the hearing was set for today at
5 10:00 o'clock and the interested parties did not appear, therefore indicating
6 that they had no definite plans of action, that the motion that was made on
7 December 4, 1980 in which the Board did find there was an unsafe building under
8 the Unsafe Building Ordinance at 1900 and 1902 North "E" Street that the owners
9 be ordered to remove these unsafe buildings and if they have not been re-
10 moved within the next thirty (30) day period that the Building Commissioner,
11 Mr. Roberts, proceed to cause these to be removed and the charges applied
12 against the property as called for under the Unsafe Building Ordinance, se-
13 conded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

15 Mr. Roberts was instructed to inform all parties of the order by certified
16 mail.

18 There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
