HomeMy Public PortalAbout22-9991 - Traffic Study at NW 143rd and NW 17th AveSponsored by: City Manager Co -sponsored by: Vice Mayor Taylor RESOLUTION NO. 22-9991 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO REQUEST THAT MIAMI- DADE COUNTY CONDUCT A TRAFFIC STUDY AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTHWEST 143RD STREET AND NORTHWEST 17TH AVENUE, WITHIN THE CITY AND INSTALL APPROPRIATE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES, AS DETERMINED BY THE TRAFFIC STUDY; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, current conditions at the intersection of Northwest 143rd Street and Northwest 17th Avenue, present a danger for vehicular traffic entering and leaving the Sailboat Cove Development, within the City of Opa-Locka ("City"); and WHEREAS, the subject road is a Miami -Dade County roadway and Miami - Dade County will need to incur all expenses associated with a traffic study and subsequent installation of traffic control devices; and WHEREAS, the Interim City Manager is requesting that the City Commission authorize a request to be made to the Miami -Dade County Traffic Section to perform all necessary traffic surveys and determine the best method of controlling traffic at the subject intersection; and WHEREAS, the City Commission hereby directs the Interim City Manager to request Miami -Dade County to conduct a traffic study at the intersection of Northwest 143rd Street and Northwest 17th Avenue, within the City, and install appropriate traffic control traffic at said intersection. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. by reference. Recitals. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated 1 Resolution No. 22-9991 Joa a Flores, City Clerk Section 2. Directing Interim City Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the Interim City Manager to request that Miami -Dade County conduct a traffic study at the intersection of Northwest 143rd Street and Northwest 17th Avenue, within the City, and further install appropriate traffic control devices as determined by the traffic study. Current conditions present a danger for vehicular traffic entering and leaving the Sailboat Cove development. Financial Impact This is a County roadway and Miami -Dade County will incur all expense associated with the traffic study and subsequent installation of traffic control devices. Proposed Action: Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to submit q request to the Miami -Dade County traffic section to perform all necessary traffic surveys to determine and install the best method of controlling traffic at this intersection.
