BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 28, 1980
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
2 in regular session February 28, 1980 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Muni-
3 cipal Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and
4 Mr. Webb present. The following business was had, to-wit:

6 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared,
7 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

9 Police Chief Charles Chris recommended the appointment of Bradley Berner
10 to the Richmond Police Department as a Probationary Patrolman, effective
11 February 1, 1980.

13 Mr. Anderson moved to approve Chief Chris' recommendation for appointment
14 of Bradley Berner as a Probationary Patrolman, effective February 1, 1980,
15 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

17 Chief Chris presented a letter of resignation from Detective Michael J.
18 Tyra, effective March 1, 1980. The Chief added that he is recommending the
19 acceptance of Detective Tyra's resignation with great regret as Detective
20 Tyra has been a good officer.

22 Mr. Webb moved to accept the recommendation of Chief Chris to accept the
23 resignation of Detective Michael J. Tyra, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on
24 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Webb added that the Board
25 gives Detective Tyra their best wishes. Detective Tyra has been with the
26 Richmond Police Department for twelve years.

28 Mr. Meredith presented the following information on a proposed increase in
29 mileage allowances. Mr. Meredith stated the city is now allowing 14 per
30 mile for travel in a personal car. He added that this has not been in-
31 creased for some time.

33 Mr. Meredith stated that through his research, he has found that industry
34 is paying 17c. to 182 per mile, other governmental agencies are paying
35 16 to 17 per mile and federal government agencies are paying 18 per mile.

37 Mr. Meredith recommended to the Board that mileage allowances be raised to
38 17 per mile. Mr. Anderson moved the mileage allowance for travel be in-
39 creased from 14 to 17G per mile, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous
40 voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Meredith stated this increase will
41 be effective upon passing.
