Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 7 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 11/ 8 9 Mr. Larry Lahrman requested permission to put an awning on the new Harriett's 10 building. This is needed to protect the window display from the sun, an awn- 11 ing would enhance the Promenade and would give protective coverning to pedes- 12 trians. Mr. Lahrman stated he has submitted plans to Mr. Webb for a canope 13 to extend six feet (6') from the front of the building (81 Promenade or the 14 former Osco Drugs) . It will be in the same place where an awning once was, 15 so there are already drains in the Promenade to prevent any additional run 16 off and to prevent ice from forming on the Promenade. The awning will not 17 impede the path of emergency vehicles needing to get down the Promenade. 18 It will be similar to Neff ? Nusbaum, King's, Hackman-Eickemeyer and Buller- 19 dick's. It will extend across the entire front of the building. Also appear- 20 ing for this request was Ms. Kay Miller, owner of Harriett's. Chief Paul 21 Mullin stated he has checked and it will not hinder the Fire Department. 22 Director of City Planning Bob Goodwin, in response to a question about the 23 awning complying with any ordinance, stated any awning on Main Street falls 24 under the Board of Works. This awning does meet the requirements of the 25 Municipal Code and will have a clearance of ten feet (10') from ground level. 26 Building Coiiunissioner Charles Roberts stated it will have eight inch (8") 27 i-beams and should stand all storms. He suggested making sure the exiting 28 drains are clear.
