BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 20, 1979
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety for the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
2 regular session September 20, 1979 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal
3 Building of said City. Mr. Anderson- presided with Mr. Webb present. Mr.
4 Meredith was out of town on City business. The following business was had,
5 to-wit:
III7 Mr. Webb moved the minutes of September 13, 1979 be approved as recieved,
8 seconded by Mr. Anderson. Motion carried.

10 Fire Chief Paul Mullins recommended that the Board,accept the bid of the 3-D
11 Metals, Inc. , Bonduel, Wisconsin for the. fire- truck in the amount of $74,722.00.
12 Mr. Anderson moved the Board award the bid to3-D. Metals, Inc. , as recommended by
13 the Fire Chief, seconded by Mr. Webb::=`Motion carried.

15 Chief Mullins recommended reassignment of Captain Robert Goodwin to the rank of
16 Engineer because of a health problem. He will be a dispatcher. Mr. Anderson
17 moved to accept the recommendation of the Fire Chief that Robert Goodwin be
18 reassigned to dispatch with the rank of Engineer, seconded by Mr. Webb. Motion
19 carried.

21 Chief Mullins recommended the promotion of Marion Schweizer to the rank of
22 Captain. Mr. Webb moved the request to promote Marion Schweizer to the rank of
23 Captain be approved, seconded by Mr. Anderson; ----Motion carried.

25 Chief of Police Charles Chris recommended attendance at school for Lt. .Edward
26 Bratton and Lt. John Farmer to receive further training. Mr. Anderson moved to
27 accept the recommendation of Chief Chris that the two (2) officers go to the
28 Hostage Rescue Operations. Workshop, seconded by Mr. Webb. Motion carried.

III30 Chief Chris recommended acceptance of employment of two (2) Probationary Police
31 Officers for September 23, 1979. He: said Robert.E. Hobson and Gary L. Heikkinen had
32 successfully qualified for employment' with the Richmond Police'' Department. Mr.
33 Anderson moved to accept the recommendation of Chief Chris that Mr. Hobson and Mr.
34 Heikkinen be employed as Probationary Police Officers, seconded by Mr. Webb. Motion
35 carried.

37 Chief Chris requested that Mr. Gregory Alan Smith be appointed Special Police
38 Officer at Earlham College. Mr. Webb moved that Mr. Smith be appointed Special
39 Police Officer, at Earlham College, seconded by Mr. Anderson. Motion carried.

41 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, the
42 meeting was adjourned.
