HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-05-1979 /7 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 5, 1979 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session July 5, 1979 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building of said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 7 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Anderson examined proof of publication for one (1) vacuum street sweeper III 10 and moved it be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 11 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 12 13 The following bids for the street sweeper were received and recorded: Seastrom, 14 Inc. $60,215.00 - may deduct $3,500.00 for optional equipment; Ries Equipment 15 Co. , Inc. $55,880.00; Deed Equipment Co. , Inc. $56,852.00 with optional silt 16 scraper of $1,630 additional. 17 18 Mr. Webb moved to take these bids under advisement, seconded by Mr. Anderson 19 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 20 21 Director of Community Development Tim Ryder presented a release for a mortgage 22 on property located at 202 N. W. "G" Street, which is under the replacement 23 housing program. Mr. Ryder explained C.D. takes the mortgage on old lots to 24 try to recoup some money for demolition. They urge the people to sell property 25 to be used for a good purpose. The mortgage is $550.00 and the purchase price 26 is $400.00. The property is to be purchased upon the satisfaction of mortgage. 27 C.D. has had the mortgage since November of 1976. He recommends the Board sign 28 the release. 29 30 Mr. Anderson moved to execute satisfaction of the mortgage, seconded by Mr. Webb 31 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 32 111 33 Mr. Jerry Purcell, 418 South 4th Street, requested permission to open an alley 34 running west off of South 4th Street between lots 93 and 86 of John Smith 35 Addition. W. Purcell is the owner of half of lot 93 and plans to build a 36 garage on the back of his property. He requests the alleyway be reopened and 37 put in a good state of repair. 38 39 Mr. Anderson moved to take the matter under advisement, seconded by Mr. Webb 40 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 41 42 Ms. Jill Vrana, 3684 State Road 227 South, representing the Richmond Area Class- 43 room Teachers, presented a route for Ride-A-Bike for the Retarded. This is the 44 second year for this project and the route covers 12 1/2 miles. Ms. Vrana has 45 not yet checked with the Traffic Department. 46 47 Mr. Anderson moved to take this matter under advisement, seconded by W. Webb 48 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 49 50 Ms. Pam Ackerman, 3091 Dogwood Lane, requested an evaluation of traffic signs 51 in Parkwood Estates. She stated there is only one yield sign in the area and 52 feels there is a need for stop signs at some intersections. There is a question 53 as to whether or not these streets have been accepted by the City. 54 55 Mr. Anderson moved to take this matter under advisement and ask Traffic to study 56 and report back what proper signs should be placed in this development, seconded 57 by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 58 59 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the June report of Mr. Charles Roberts, Building 60 Commissioner, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 61 carried. 62 63 W. Anderson requested Mr. Meredith set a date for two (2) new nuisance complaints 64 against Mr. Colin White, 610 North 12th and Mr. Ronald Helton, 114 Green Street. 65 Mr. Meredith set July 26 at 10:00 a.m. to hear these complaints. 66 67 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed the 68 meeting was adjourned. 69 70 Donald E.
