HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-29-1979 cad 7 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 29, 1979 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in 2 regular session March 29, 1979 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building of said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had, to wit: 5 6 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 7 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Webb moved the recommendation of Chief of Police Charles Chris to promote 111 10 Officer Raymond Ogle. to Patrolman be approved effective March 27, 1979, 11 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 12 13 Chief Chris stated the probationary period of Officer Jerold Hillard ends on 14 March-27, 1979 and requests this period be extended .by six (6) months. 15 Mr. Anderson moved that the probationary period of Jerold Hillard be extended 16 for six (6) months until September 27, 1979, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 17 unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 18 19 Mr. Anderson moved that the recommendation of Chief Chris that Detective 20 John Lantz be authorized to go to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy on the 21 dates of April 9 through 13 to attend a Photography II course be approved, 22 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 23 24 Mr. Meredith announced the request of the Heart Fund for a bucket brigade 25 will remain under: advisement for another week. 26 27 Mr. Meredith stated the City has received bids for treatment of the lawn at 28 the Municipal Building for fertilization, insect and weed control. The 29 following bids were announced and recorded: Chemlawn - four (4) applications 30 of liquid treatment $1,075.00; E-Z Lawn- four (4) applications of liquid 31 treatment $1,072.00; O.M. Scott & Sons dry material which does not include 32 application $1,310.00. Chemlawn and E-Z Lawn bids include application. Mr. 33 Anderson moved to accept the bid of E-Z Lawn in the amount of $1,072.00 for the 34 liquid treatment and application to the Municipal grounds, seconded by Mr. 35 Webb and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 36 37 Mr. Meredith announced the Board has received from the State Highway Commission 38 three (3) copies of an agreement between the State Highway and the City 39 concerning the railroad crossing on North 13th Street. Mr. Webb stated this 40 would be a Federal Aid project with ninety-ten funding with Community 41 Development picking up the ten percent. This is for advance warning devices 42 and gates at the Conrail crossing. The Engineering Department and the City 43 Attorney found the contract in order. Mr. Anderson moved to execute the 44 contract, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was 45 carried. Mr. Webb stated this agreement is for preliminary engineering. 46 47 Chief Chris recommended to Mr. Richardson of RP&L that they remove the "do not 48 enter" sign for west bound traffic on the north service drive between North 49 5th and 6th when they are through working during the daylight hours. RP&L 50 is replacing a transformer vault in-this area. 51 52 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, the 53 meeting was adjourned. 54 55 56 Donald E.
