HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-25-1979 cX BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 25, 1979 1 . The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session January 25, 1979 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building of said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb 4 present. The following business was had, to wit: 5 6 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 7 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 8 9 Police Capt. Scott Loper presented a request from Local 721 Wayne Division 10 concerning a traffic problem when trying to enter onto Williamsburg Pike from 11 Wayne`s west parking lot. Shifts were staggered to alleviate the congestion 12 problem but as of March 1978`',.-. all departments start and end at the same time. 13 With the traffic leaving the east lot on Industries Road, there is a continual 14 northbound flow. They requested a "No Turn on Red" sign posted at the 15 Industries Road intersection. Capt. Loper recommended approval of installation • 16 of the sign. 17 18 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the recommendation of Capt. Loper by placing a 19 standar-ized "No Turn on Red" sign at the intersection subject to a reporting 20 back in a week or so any problem in that area, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 21 unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 22 23 Chief of Police Charles. Chris stated that a year ago the. Police Department had 24 its first group of Reserve Officers sworn in. Since that period of time, six 25 (6) other c;iviiiaii: volunteers in this program have completed their training. 26 Chief Chris requested the following named persons be granted Special Police 27 status with the Richmond Police Department and be granted full police powers 28 within the City of Richmond during those hours as assigned by the Chief of 29 Police effective January 25, 1979: Mary Ellen Renck, Kenneth L. Miller, Harold 30 A. Schroy, Jerry D. Slifer, Larry K. Hartley, and Barbara Ann Chambers. He 31 noted this brings the total Reserves to seventeen (17) . The City Clerk will 32 swear the Officers in this evening at 6:00 p.m. 33 34 Mr. Webb moved that the request of Chief Chris be approved, seconded by Mr. 35 Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 36 37 Capt. Loper presented-a request=sighed.by_,the .residents- and. Councilman_ 38 Williams. of the 900 block of North llth Street that no parking signs be 39 removed from the east side and placed on the west side of the street as it is 40 very difficult to get out when there is snow and ice on the hill. 41 42 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the recommendation of Capt. Loper that in the 43 900 block of North llth Street the no parking signs be moved from the east 44 side and put on -the west side of the street, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 45 unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 46 47 There being no further business on motion duly made., seconded and passed, the 48 meeting was adjourned. 49 50 51 Donald E.
