HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-12-1978 /YJ BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, October 12, 1978 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the. City of Richmond, Indiana met in 2 regular session October 12, 1978, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building of said City. Mr. Anderson presided with Mr.. Webb present. Mr. 4 Meredith was out of town on City business. The following business was had, 5 to-wit: 6 7 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the minutes of the previous meeting.. as prepared, 8II/ seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 9 10 Mr. Matt Nepote, Federal Grant Director, announced that UMTA, (Urban Mass 11 Transit Authority), has upheld a protest of one of the prospective bidders 12 on the Fare Boxes; therefore, it is suggested that December 14, 1978 at 13 9:00 a.m. be the new bid date. The ,Clerk is to notify all prospective bidders. 14 15 Sgt. Ron Williams, Traffic Division, reported on General Telephone Company's 16 request for use of parking spaces on the North 10th Street parking lot. He 17 suggested that the City allow General Telephone Company to lease the fifty 18 (5) spaces they desire. (Mr. Dick Judd, General Telephone Company, stated that 19 they still 'desired to lease the spaces.) Mr. Webb moved the City enter into an 20 agreement with General Telephone Company to lease fifty (50) spaces on the 21 City lot on North 10th Street at a rate of $350.00 per month due and payable 22 to the City from General Telephone, seconded by Mr. Anderson and the motion 23 was carried. 24 25 Mr. Robert Richardson, Richmond Power & Light, reported on existing alley lights 26 in reference to the alley light on South 3rd Street between "C" and "D" 27 requested by Councilman Marion Williams, which was approved by the Street 28 Light Committee. Mr. Anderson moved to take this under advisement=so_the. _ 29 Chief of Police can check the complaint of vandelism and to ask Mr. Roberts, 30 Building Commissioner, to check also regarding weeds and if it is public or 31 _ private property. Motion seconded by Mr. Webb and the motion was carried. 32 33 Ms Barbara Barnhizer, E.E.O. Officer representing Mr. Tim Ryder, Director of 34 Community Development, requested a bid date of October 26, 1978 at 9:00 a.m. 35 for asphalt materials. She also reported that the alleyway on North 19th 36 Street is stoned now. 'Mr. Anderson set the bid opening for asphalt materials 37 for October 26, 1978 at 9:00 a.m. - 38 39 Mr. Anderson announced that the bid letting on spreaders will be presented 40 next week. 41 42 Chief Charles Chris suggested Halloween "Begger's" night be set for Monday, 43 October 30, 1978. Mr. Anderson moved to set Monday, October 30, 1978 from 44 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for Halloween "Beggar's" night, seconded by Mr. Webb 45 and the motion was carried. 46 47 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, the 48 . meeting was adjourned. 49 50 Edward Anderson 51 Acting President 52 53 ATTEST: Nancy V.
