HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-17-1978 j6,j BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 17, 1978 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met -2 in regular session August 17, 1978 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson present. . Mr. 4 Webb was on vacation. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as presented, 7 seconded by Mr. Meredith. Motion carried. 8 • 9 Ms. Joyce Ware, representing the East Central Indiana Chapter of the Diabetes III 10 Association of Indiana, requested permission to hold a Bike-A-Thon on October 11 1 from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m. She presented a route to be used 12 similar to last year's with improvements. She noted there were seventy-seven • 13 (77) riders last year. The rain date for this event is October 8. REACT 14 helped with safety last year and she will request they do the same this year. 15 This is their main fund raising event.. Sgt. Williams of Traffic found the 16 route satisfactory. Mr. Anderson moved to approve the Diabetes Bike-A-Thon 17 for Sunday, October 1 with a rain date for October 8 with the hours as stipu- 18 lated and route as outlined, seconded by Mr. Meredith. Motion carried. 19 20 Ms. Darlene Fleenor requested closing the south drive of Woodgate Way from 21 Brecken Ridge Dr. to the loop on August 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. for a block 22 party. Sgt. Williams gave his approval. Mr. Anderson moved to approve the 23 street closing for a block party- on August 27 between the hours of 4:00 and 24 8:00 p.m. for one side of the street on Woodgate Way, seconded by Mr. Meredith. 25 • Motion carried. 26 27 Fire Chief Paul Mullin requested there be no parking on the south side of 28 Winding Ridge Drive, from the fire hydrant on the south side of the street, 29 near the front of the No. 2 Fire Station for a distance of 160' east. This 30 is needed to get a pumper out of the station without any problems with traffic. 31 Sgt. Williams also recommends this request. Mr. Anderson moved to grant the 32 request of the Fire Chief, seconded by Mr. Meredith. Motion carried. 33 34 Director of City Planning Bob Goodwin stated he has received complaints of 35 dust coming from people using the northeast corner of East Main and 10th as 36 a parking lot. There is also possible damage being done to the curbs and 37 sidewalks. Mr. Goodwin contacted the owner of the property, who lives in 38 Florida, and requested the City be permitted to place barricades to prevent 39 this from being used as a parking lot. The City Attorney drew up an agreement 40 and the owner has agreed to allow the City to put up these barricades. Mr. 41 Anderson moved this matter be taken under advisement, seconded by Mr. Meredith. 42 Motion carried. 43 44 Mr. Meredith set September 7 at 9:00 a.m. •to receive bids for a service truck 45 and Supervisor's van for CORTA. This would be paid from an UMTA grant. 46 47 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed the 48 meeting was adjourned. 49 50 Donald E.
