SPECIAL MEETING
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 25, 1978
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the. City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
2 special session July 25, 1978 at the hour of 10:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building
III3 in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb present.
4, The following business was had, to-wit:

6 Mr. Meredith stated the purpose of this special,meeting is to hear charges
7 brought against Officer Collins Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson is represented by
8 Attorney James Backmeyer.

10 Mr. Backmeyer presented a Motion for Continuation in writing which basically
11 states additional time is needed to take depositions of certain police officers
12 who could be witnesses before the Board of Works and depositions of certain City
13 Officials. Furthermore, Mr. Backmeyer stated he has been in extended and lengthy
14 negotiations with the Attorney for the Board of Works, Ed Anderson and Mr.
15 Hudson. It is his opinion that a possibility exists for a settlement or an
16 adjustment of the controversies now before the Board of Works. For this reason,
17 and not too much time has elapsed from June 27, 1978 when Chief Chris put Mr.
18 Dickerson on notice in writing, he, therefore, respectfully requests a short
19 continuation so that these negotiations between the City Attorney, Mr. Backmeyer,
20 and Mr. Dickerson could be extended and perhaps bring a proposal to the Board
21 which might be acceptable.

23 After asking if there are any objections to the Motion for Continuance, Mr.
24 Meredith granted the continuance and set the time for 10:00 a.m. , August 8,
25 1978.

27 As this was a special meeting for this matter only, the meeting was adjourned.
