HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-20-1978 • /S7 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 20, 1978 • 1 ' The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met 2 in regular session July 20, 1978 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal 3 Building in said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. 4 Webb present. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 6, Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, 7 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the proof of ,p.ublicat on_., for fire hose, seconded 10 by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 11 12 The following bids were received and recorded: Hawk $21,302.00, Centurion 13 $27,515.54, and Midwest $16,381.01 Mr. Webb moved the bids be taken under 14 advisement, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion 15 -was carried. 16 • 17 Mr. Webb read a recommendation from the Street Light Commi.ttee. to install 18 50 - 175-watt post top street lights and remove 18 =-250-watt street lights 19 on wood poles located on South 18th to 19th, South "E"' to "J". This will 20 amount to $175.24 increase per month billing. Mr. Webb moved the request be 21 approved, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion 22 was carried. 23 24 Mr. Webb moved for acceptance of an agreement for fire service with Wayne 25 Township for $159,600.00 payable. in installments -when they-receive their 26 tax distribution, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the 27 motion was carried. 28 29 Mr. Ed Nicholson submitted contracts for Hidden Valley 6,, which will be 30 presented to the Plan Commission next Tuesday. ill 31 32 Mr. Matt Stegall, representing Old Richmond Neighborhood Association, 33 appeared and stated they want to have a street fair on August 12 and August 34 13. It would be the same as past street fairs with South "D" blocked from 35 the intersection of 4th to the alley and spaces would be let out for a flea 36 market. Money derived from the fair would be from concessions. Arrangements 37 have been-made with the new owners of Cutters Corner and parking has been 38 arranged. Sgt. Williams- of Traffic stated there have been no previous 39 complaints as far as traffic is concerned. Mr. Anderson moved that the Board 40 of Public Works and Safety authorize and permit Old Richmond Neighborhood 41 Association to use and have blocked South "D" between South 4th and the alley 42 between 4th & 5th on Saturday, August 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on 43 Sunday, August 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the purpose of a flea 44 market for the promotion of the historic district, seconded by Mr. Webb and 45 on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 46 47 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, the 48 meeting was adjourned. 49 50 51 Donald E.
