HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-09-1978 ,4 3 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 9, 1978 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the. City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in special session June 9, 1978 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the 3 Municipal Building in said City, as there was not a quorum for their 4 regularily scheduled meeting. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson 5 and Mr. Webb present. The following business was had, to- wit: 6 7 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as corrected, 8 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 9 10 Mr. Jeff Veith, 213 N.W. 5th, appeared before the Board requesting closing 11 half of the alley between Lincoln and Pearl at N.W. 5th today from 12100. 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. for an Earlham College party for graduating seniors. 13 Capt. Loper stated his department has no objections. Mr. Webb recommended 14 Mr. Veith contact the Street Department to furnish barricades. Mr. Anderson 15 moved authorizing the graduating class of Earlham College to close the alley 16 between Lincoln and Pearl at N.W. 5th from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. June 17 9 for a school party, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote, 18 the motion was carried. 19 20 The Clerk read a letter from Director of Community Development Tim Ryder to 21 award the contract for the Kinsey Neighborhood to Bertram Construction 22 Company in the amount of $24,553.95. This amount is well within the 23 engineer's estimate. Mr. Webb so moved, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on 24 unanimous voice vote, the motion was carried. 25 26 Mr. Webb presented a residential curb cut request from Mr. Byron Ford, 27 910 Crestdale Drive. This request has approval of Engineering, Traffic, 28 and Plan Departments . Mr. Webb moved the request be granted, seconded by Mr. 29 Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was. carried. 30 31 Chief Charles Chris read a request from Officer Theodore Blanford for a 32 leave of absence from June 10 to June 24, 1978 to fulfill his annual military 33 commitment. Mr. Blanford is in the airforce reserve and must attend school 34 at Grissom Airforce Base. _Chief Chris requested the leave of absence be 35 granted under the rules of military reserve unit officers as they have to 36 attend. There is no policy for any other method if a request is filed by 37 military personnel and employeer must grant this leave. Officer Blanford 38 will recieve-,no:.payduringtthisileave of absence and time spent will be added 39 on to time required for police pension. Mr. Webb moved this request be 40 granted, seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the motion was 41 carried. 42 43 Mr. Webb moved to accept and place on file the May report from the Bureau 44 of Buildings, seconded by ,JMr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote, the 45 motion was carried. 46 47 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, 48 the meeting was adjourned. 49 50 Donald E.
