BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 23, 1978
1 The Board of Public Works. and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in
2 special session January 23, 1978 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal
3 Building in .said City. Mr. Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb
4 present. The following business was had, to wit:

III6 This meeting is held to consider the request of American Agriculture representatives
7 for permission to take approximately fifty (50) tractors and pick—up trucks through
8 the City with a police escort. Representatives present were Byron Kinsinger, Tom
9 Munchell, Larry Meyers and Kenneth Burch. If weather permits the group will be
10 at the old Grant's property at the western edge of the city around 1:00 p.m. Thursday,
11 January 26. The route will be on U.S . 40 using 16th Street to the turn around
12 by Kurdy's Chevrolet and back again using.North 16th to the place of beginning. .
13 The vehicles will be traveling „approximately 10 m..p.h. It is their intention .to
14 have a brief meeting at the end of..their route outside the City limits. They will
15 be monitoring CBChannel 8. . Mr. Kinsinger stated that farmers are now congregated in
16 Washington, D.C. but need support of those back home to receive a guaranteed fair
17 price. The purpose of the parade is to bring public awareness and sympathy to the
18 farmer's problem of not getting fair prices for their produce. They are requesting
19 of the Board only permission to use the streets. Mr. Anderson discouraged the use
20 of the word "strike" and recommended restriction--of=the word being used=_in any signs.

22 Mr. Webb moved for approval, of the parade as outlined, seconded by Mr. Anderson and
23 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

25 Mr. Meredith announced the Board has received a letter from Second National Bank
26 stating a loan of $200,000.00 .has been approved for Meadowpark and $160,000.00
27 has been set aside for sanitary sewers, storm sewers and street paving. This
28 is the surety required by the Board for approval of Meadowpark Subdivision 2 and 3.

30 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the surety for Meadowp.ark Subdivision 2 and 3,
1 seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
