City of Tybee Island was first Georgia coastal community to offer curbside recycling in 2004.
Back Ground Information:WastePro currently is the contractor for curbside solid waste and recycling. •Garbage collection is twice a week.•Recycle collection is once a week•Yard waste
is once a weekRepublic currently is the contractor for the South end Compactors & the Waste Water Treatment Plant sludge and does pulls on an as needed basis.
Residential Solid Waste and RecyclingResidential Rate: $12.03/month/cart & $3.02/month/bin$15.00 for additional cart month
Commercial Solid WasteCommercial Rate: $23.45/cart/monthPrivately Contracted Dumpster
South End District -CompactorsAtlantic Avenue –15 cubic yard compactorLovell Avenue –34 cubic yard compactor
City provides limited commercial recycling at the city’s drop-off center
Input from residents, business owners and staff, so far!
64 and/or 96 gallon recycling carts for residential & commercial customers that currently use garbage carts
Side Door Garbage/Recycling Residential Customers
Extra pick-ups for customers who need more pick-ups/service seasonally.

A Glass Crusher –By product could be used on Tybee roads and bicycle trails.
Some Additional Recommendations:•City pays tipping fees at landfill not contractor.•Contractor pays city for recycling material collected.•Garbage collection goes from two days a week
to one day a week.•Recycling goes from once a week to once every two weeks.•Customers are billed directly by contractor rather than City.
