HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-22-1977 .4( BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 22, 1977 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 2 Indiana, met in regular session September 22, 1977 at the hour of 3 9:00 a.m. in the. Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Meredith 4 presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb present. The following 5 business" was had, to-wit: 6 7 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous meet- 8 ing as corrected, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice 9 vote the motion was carried. 10 11 Mr. Meredith announced that the City is now under threatened 12 litigation, although they have not yet been served any papers or- 13 had any official action, concerning the recently passed Ordinances 14 on the eastern annexations. Mr. Meredith hereby is giving public 15 notice that the Board of Works will hold an executive meeting 16 Monday, September 26, 1977 at 9:00 a.m. for the purpose of 17 discussing the fiscal_plan. This is a closed meeting for members 18 of the Board of Works and those they invite to discuss the fiscal 19 plan. 20 21 Mr. Webb moved to approve the curb cut request for MAB Paint Store 22 on South 8th located north of the office of RP&L, seconded by Mr. 23 Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 24 The petitioner is PRP Development Company of Terre Haute and the 25 request has approval of Plan, Traffic and Engineering Departments. 26 This cut does require State Highway approval. 27 28 Ms. Barbara Barnhizer, representing Community Development and 29 Redevelopment,;presented a petition to vacate part of North 30 17th Street in the City of Richmond, Indiana. The petitioners 31 are Mosey Manufacturing and Department of Redevelopment. This 32 vacation would provide .a buffer area between Mosey's and 33 residents in the area. The question arose as to the closing of 34 the intersection of North 17th and "G" through this petition 35 as written. Mr. Anderson moved this petition be referred to the 36 Plan Commission for study, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous 37 voice vote the motion was carried. 38 39 Mr. Anderson moved to accept the recommendation of Chief Charles 40 Chris to revoke the Special Police Powers of Lee Steele, 41 effective as. of September 9, 1977, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 42 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 43 44 Building Commissioner .Charles Roberts, on a.request from Mrs. 45 Minnie Madden, checked on property located at 241 South 3rd 46 Street. This property was inspected in June of 1975 and was 47 condemned at that time. They were given thirty (30) days to 48 bring the property up to code and did so. Mrs. Madden states 49 that at this time rats-are in the property due to trash and 50 weeds. Mr. Roberts will contact the owner, Mr. Campbell, about 51 plugging the sewers. Mr. Webb suggested the Sanitation Depart- 52 went be contacted about baiting the sewers. 53 54 Mr. William .Gross, 1340 South 5th, who had been before the 55 Board on August 4, 1977 concerning the condition of the property 56 located next to him at. 1344 South 5th and had been told at that 57 time he would have to wait until the Advisory Board meet, was 58 instructed to meet with Mr. Roberts to see at what stage his 59 complaint is now. 60 61 Mr. John Whalen, representing the partnership that purchased the 62 Leland property requested approval of curb cuts for a parking lot 63 on South 10th and "A". The entrance to this lot will be on 10th 64 and the controlled exit will be by the alley between 9th and 10th 65 and then on to South "A". Mr. Rick Freeman of Quadratec presented 66 changed drawings allowing more buffer area along South "A" . I/1 Board of Works Minutes Cont'd September 22, 1977 Page 2. • 1 Mr. Meredith. announced he would postpone the executive 2 meeting scheduled for 9:00 on Monday, September 26, 1977 3 for fifteen (15) minutes and called a special meeting of 4 the Board for 9:00 to consider this curb cut request. 5 6 There being no further business on motion duly made, 7 seconded and passed the meeting was adjourned. 8 9 Donald E.
