HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-25-1977 .3/ BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 25, 1977 1 The Board of_Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 2 Indiana, met in regular session August 25, 1977 at the hour 3 of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. 4 Meredith presided with Mr. Anderson and Mr. Webb present. 5 The following business was had, to-wit: 6 7 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous 8 meeting as prepared, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous 9 voice vote the motion was carried. 10 11 Mr. Robert Rhoads, 3150 Backneyer Road, representing the 12 Wayne County Historical Society, requested barricading-. the 13 parking lane on the north side of North "A" Street for the 14 annual Pioneer Days on Sunday September 11 from 1:00 to 15 5:00 p.m. He also requested no parking signs be placed on 16 the curb side of the block surrounding the museum for this 17 - area to be used for horse-drawn vehicles. Mr. Anderson 18 moved to grant the request of the Wayne County Historical 19 Society, seconded by Mr.. Webb and on unanimous voice vote 20 the motion was carried. 21 22 An agreement was presented between the City of Richmond and 23 Super Stations, Inc. pertaining to the wall between the City 24 parking lot and the Station at the corner of North "A" 25 and 10th Street. Mr. Anderson explained this is basically 26 between the Street Department and Super Stations to repair 27 a brick wall and extend a board fence and to tear down a 28 deteriorating wall. Mr. Anderson found the agreement to be 29 in order. Mr. Webb moved for approval of this agreement, 30 seconded by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the 31 motion was carried. 32 33 Mr. Webb moved for approval of .a curb cut request from Mr. 34 Edwin R. Black, 345 College Avenue for a twelve. foot (12') 35 cut off of "D" Street to his residence, seconded by Mr. 36 Anderson and on unanimous, voice vote the motion was carried. 37 This request has the approval of Traffic, Plan and Engineer- 38 ing Departments. 39 40 Mrs. Minnie Madden, 237 South 3rd, requested mothers of 41 children of Finley School, who will now be attending Warner 42 School, be school guards to help children cross South and 43 North "A" Streets. Mr. Anderson moved to take this request 44 under advisement until the next Board meeting, seconded by 45 Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 46 Major Ron Chestnut stated these crossings, as well as 47 other areas, will be observed by the Police Department at 48 the opening of schools. 49 50 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the request of Mr. Mike 51 Herold, 1621 Idlewild Drive, to close Idlewild Drive from 52 Mikan to the curve before. Capri from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 53 on Sunday, September 4 for a Block Party, seconded by Mr. 54 Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 55 56 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded 57 and passed, the meeting was adjourned. 58 59 Donald E.
