HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-05-1977 • CORRECTED BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RI CHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 5, 1977 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 2 Indiana, met in regular session May 5, 1977 at the hour of 9:00 3 a.m. in the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Anderson 4 presided with Mr. Webb present. Mr. Meredith was out of town. 5 The following business was had, to-wit: 6 7 Mr. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of the previous 8 meeting as prepared, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice II/ 9 vote the motion was carried. 10 11 Mr. Anderson moved to approve Mr. Charles Roberts' Building 12 Commissioner's Report for April, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 13 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 14 15 Approval of an engineering contract with Jacobs-Maze and 16 Associates for Engineering Service for construction of North 17 20th Street curve, north of 20th Street Bridge connecting into 18 North "J" Street, was discussed. Contract was previously held 19 with the Department of Redevelopment. Community Development 20 will assume the contract from Jacobs-Maze as Community Develop- 21 ment will be doing much of the work in the northwest area. A 22 letter presented from Jacobs-Maze to release Redevelopment from 23 their contract was received and Community Development is 24 satisfied with components of a new contract ($2,000.00 fixed 25 price) for engineering services. Mr. Webb recommended approval 26 of the new contract with Mr. Anderson seconding and on unanimous 27 voice vote the motion was carried. 28 29 Major Chesnut of the Richmond Police Department recommended that 30 Officer Marc A. McDugle be advanced from the rank of Probationary 31 Patrolman to Patrolman First Class effective May 6, 1977. Mr. 32 Webb moved Officer McDugle be promoted, seconded by Mr. Anderson 33 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 34 Mr. Roberts commented on exterminating property at 206 North 16th 36 Street and Ms. Barbara Gibson's home at 212 North 16th Street. 37 The insurance was approved and the home would have been extermin- 38 ated whether she had presented her problem to the Board of Works 39 or not. Community Development paid to have her home exterminated. • 40 41 Mr. Anderson moved the Calvin Dean street dedication be approved. 42 This is the dedication of South and Street leading to Southview 43 School. The motion was seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous 44 voice vote the motion was carried. 45 46 Mr. Rick Freeman presented plans for final approval of Cambridge 47 . Square, 150 units of elderly housing on the east side of town, 48 south of Richmond Square Mall. Plans and specifications are 49 complete and ready to go to HUD for final approval. They wish 50 to start construction June 1977. At this point need Board of 51 Works approval on street and drainage. Resolution of problem 52 to extend street to property owner so any future day city can 53 tie into that street to serve welfare of public. W. Webb 54 recommended final approval of Cambridge Square, seconded by Mr. 55 Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 56 57 Tom Cool questioned legal ad for automobiles for auction. He 58 did not believe all automobiles were listed which are to be 59 auctioned. This matter is to be referreh.to_=`Mr. Meredith. 60 61 Mr. Anderson moved to accept and file proof of publication for 62 Holsapple Street improvement, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous 63 voice vote the motion was carried. 33o Board of Public Works Minutes Cont'd May 5, 1977 Page 2. 1 Bids were received for Holsapple Street Improvement and the 2 following were recorded: 3 4 A .& D Excavating $ 122 ,691. 75 5 Cains Lakes Gravel $ 154,880.65 6 George E. Russell Inc. $ 134,915.58 7 8 Mr. Webb moved to take these bids under advisement, seconded 9 by Mr. Anderson and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 10 carried. 11 12 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded 13 and passed the meeting was adjourned. 14 15 Edward N.
