HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-23-1976 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 23, 1976. 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 2 Indiana, met in regular session December 23, 1976 at the hour of 3 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Reinke 4 presided with Mr. Meredith present. Mr. Webb was out of town. The 5 following business was had, to-wit: 6 7 Mr. Meredith moved to approve' the minutes of the previous meeting, 8 seconded by Mr. Reinke and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 9 carried. 10 11 Reverend Green of Chicago came to the Board requesting permission 12 to hold street meetings twice a month from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on 13 Friday and Saturday using a public address system throughout the 14 City. He is sponsored locally by the Holy Temple Church. Mr. 15 Reinke told Rev. Green there was a City Ordinance prohibiting the 16 use of public address systems on the streets of the City and 17 recommended he contact a member of Council . 18 19 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the request of Chief Paul Mullin that 20 James E. Walters be advanced to the rank of regular firefighter, 21 effective December 24, 1976, seconded by Mr. Reinke and on unanimous 22 voice vote the motion was carried. 23 24 Taken under advisement was a request of the County, represented by 25 Councilmen Dougherty and Dils , to make parking parallel available 26 to the County on 4th Street and installation of a brick walkway 27 between the Court House and the new annex. 28 29 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the request of Mr. Robert L. Rees of 30 RP&L on the recommendation of the Street Light Committee to install 31 the following 175 watt post top street lights , seconded by Mr. 32 Reinke and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried: 33 34 South 24th Street, 25th Street, and S . E. 35 Parkway from Reeveston Road to South "A" . 36 37 South "A" and "B" Streets from S . E. 38 Parkway to 27th St. 39 40 Mr. Meredith moved to approve a contract rental agreement for a NCR 41 8200 computer through a lease in the amount of $1745. per month 42 plus a one-time charge of $750. for fund accounting system and a 43 one-time distribution charge of $175. , seconded by Mr. Reinke and 44 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. - 45 46 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the following increase in City Bus 47 Lines effective January 3, 1977, seconded by Mr. Reinke and qn 48 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 49 50 1 . Single bus fares increased from 30¢ to 40¢ 51 52 2. Tokens to be sold at the price of three (3) tokens 53 for $1 .00, twenty (20) tokens for $6.00 and 30¢ 54 for each token over twenty (20) . 55 _ 56 3. Charter rate will be $20.00 an hour with a 57 minimum of $40.00. 58 59 Mr. Meredith moved to approve Chief Chris ' recommendation to accept 60 the bid of Dictaphone Corporation of $9,348.41 for a recorder for 61 the Police Department as meeting requirements and bid specifications, 62 seconded by Mr. Reinke and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 63 carried. 64 65 Mr. Meredith moved to accept the recommendation of Sgt. Ron Williams 66 to install stop signs at three locations which are Northwest "T" 67 for westbound traffic, Northwest llth for southbound and northbound 68 traffic on a temporary basis possibly for six months until this area 69 can be landscaped and reaccess of this location to determine what 70 safety measures are needed, seconded by Mr. Reinke and on unanimous 71 voice vote the motion was carried.
