HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-09-1976 77 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 9 , 1976 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 2 Indiana, met in regular session December 9, 1976, at the hour of 3 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Meredith 4 presided with Mr. Webb present. Mr. Reinke was out of town . The 5 following business was had, to-wit: 6 7 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 8 seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was III 9 carried. 10 11 Mr. Webb moved to approve the request of Dana Weigle to close 8th 12 Street from alley to alley north and south of the Promenade on 13 December 31 , 1976 from 11 :30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. for the bell ringing 14 ceremony, subject to approval of the State Highway, seconded by Mr. 15 Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 16 17 Mr. Webb moved to accept and file proof of publication for bids for 18 a multi-channel communication logging tape recorder for the. Police 19 Department, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous vonoe vote 20 the motion was carried. 21 22 The following bid was recorded for the logging tape recorder: 23 24 Dictaphone Corporation $9,348.41 25 26 Mr. Webb moved to take this bid under advisement, seconded by Mr. 27 Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 28 29. Mr. Meredith moved to accept the recommendation of Sgt. Ron Williams 30 to provide three (3) reserve parking spaces on South 8th Street in 31 front of Mercurio's Tavern for Safe Way Cab Company, seconded by Mr. 32 Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 33 34 Mr. Meredith moved to accept the recommendation of Chief Charles 35 Chris to promote Lieutenant Terry LaFuze to the rank of Captain and 36 assignment of Lt. LaFuze to the Youth Bureau Services effective 37 December 9, 1976, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote 38 the motion was carried. 39 40 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the following holidays for the calender 41 year 1977 and New Year's Day 1978, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 42 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Offices of the City 43 Municipal Building will be closed as follows: 44 45 Noon April 8 - Good Friday 46 May 30 - Memorial Day 47 July 4 - Independence Day 48 Sept. 5 - Labor Day 49 Nov. 11 - Veteran 's Day 50 Nov. 24-25 - Thanksgiving 51 Dec. 26 - Christmas 52 Jan. 2,1978 - New Year's Day 53 54 Mr. Meredith moved to accept the following east-west route for 55 bicycles , seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion 56 was carried. 57 58 EAST BOUND - Commencing at Salisbury Road, east on West Main to 59 N.W. 8th, north on N .W. 8th for approximately one (1 ) block to Mary 60 Scott Park (N .W. 7th Street Park) , east through the Park to N.W. 7th 61 Street, proceeding through the alley to N.W. 4th Street, south 1/2 62 block to Kinsey Street, east on Kinsey to N .W. 1st, south to Main 63 St. , north on sidewalk of Main Street from N .W. 1st to N. 5th, south 64 on S. 5th to S. "C" Street, east on S. "C" Street to S. 8th Street, 65 on sidewalk on east side' approximately 1/4 block to S. "C" St. east` 66 on S. "C" Street to S. 16th Street, north to S. "B" Street, east 67 on S. "B" to S. 23rd, north to S . "A" Street to Southeast Parkway, 68 continuing east on Avon Lane to termination at S. 34th and Avon Lane. "B", continuing down S . "B" to 10th Street Park, through 4 Park and continuing on S . "B" to S . 5th Street, north onS . 5 5th to Main Street, proceeding west on sidewalk on north side 6 of Main Street to N .W. 1st, north to Kinsey, west on Kinsey to 7 4th Street, 1/2- block north on N.W. 4th to alley, proceeding 8 west in alley to N .W. 7th, west through 7th Street Park to N. 9 • W. "A" , continuing west to N.W. 10th, south on N.W. 10th to 10 W. Main Street and west on West Main Street to termination at 11 Salisbury Road. 12 13 This route has the approval of the Park Superintendent for 14 routes to go through the two (2) parks . 15 - - 16 Mr. Tom Atkinson, Health Department, reported to the Board and 17 Mr. Charles Roberts , Bureau of Buildings and Ron Bass, inspector 18 Fire Department had inspected properties located at 19 So. 18th 19 and 1803 E. Main and found them to be hazardous. Mr. Roberts 20 sent a letter to the owner .(Tatt Realty) giving ten (10) days 21 from 12-10-76 to have properties boarded up. 22 - 23 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded 24 and passed the meeting was adjourned. 25 26 27 Donald E.
